Grad/Teacher Hockey Game.

I’m skipping school today. This is something I’ve never done before. Ever! Seriously I haven’t. Not once. I’m skipping school because my next assignments aren’t due until next week and I really need to get some stuff done around my house. I’m still really liking Flylady’s system and keeping on track with the baby steps to keeping your house clean. I let little things slide every once in a while, but overall I’m super happy with how clean my house has been lately. It never stresses me out anymore and I think Emily is even calmer because of it. She isn’t calmer lately though because she’s getting 4 more teeth again. OW! thats got to be super painful. Poor little muffin. Totally explains why she’s been so grumpy and testy lately. I know part of that is that she’ll be 2 in a couple months, but I’m hoping to push that back just a bit. A minor bloody nose from a head butting today make me a bit more anxious about having a toddler. I’m really happy Emily can communicate so well, because Im sure many toddlers get really frustrated about communicating what they want or don’t want. Speaking of communication…

“Donny the Retard!!” Thank you to everyone who sings song like this around my daughter!!!That is what she was yelling at the top of her lungs across the parkinglot on the way to the Grad/Teacher hockey game last night. I was laughing so hard I couldn’t even carry her. Morgan had to take her. It made it worse because every time I laughed she would sing it again. Another strange thing about last night was my 21 month old daughters LOVE of hockey. AHHHH screams her mother and runs away!!!We took her to the game just before eight. This, for those of you who don’t have toddlers, is the worst time of the day to try and get a toddler to behave. The hour before bed time is usually the hour you seriously think about joining a convent or becoming a monk and living in total silence for the rest of your natural life. In the car on the way to the game we taught Emily to sing “We will, we will rock you”. Super cute. She then proceeded to sit on Morgans lap for ever and just watch. Then my mom came by and she went with Gramma and just sat on her lap and watched for the rest of the game. it was after her bed time when the game ended, but she wasn’t owly or anything. She was inviting random people over to our house though. “You come to my house!” I think it’s be funny if someone showed up just cause Emily invited them over.

My dad was playing in the game. He kinda looked like a 70’s hockey star. It’s really too bad he didn’t have his mullet or it would have been perfect. Lizzi took some pictures so I’ll get one to post later. Emily kept saying “Bubba fell down. uh oh. He needs a sucky”. Coco and I cheered so loudly for both sides it was so fun. Her husband Dustin played in the game too. We were cheering for him and my dad cause neither of them can really skate. Several of the youth were playing too, so we were just cheering for everyone. My “Other Dad” Mark was playing with the teachers and made up for the “slightly less powerful line” that my dad and Dustin were on. It was a good game. The teachers got creamed, but it was still fun to watch. I’m even more excited for the Canucks alumni vs. conservation officer game thats coming here next month. I think I’m even getting closer toward convincing Morgan that we need to play hockey. They have a beginners league thats just drop in. Anyone have any used gear they don’t want?? Thats gonna be the big one to find for both of us…not a fat joke…haha. well I’d better not let skipping school be in vain. House work…here I come!

Swimmin in Dare

“They Swimmin in dare?” That what Emily thinks of my snow globes. She thinks I have an entire nativity thats drowning. keen observation I might add. I would have never thought about it that way. I decorated more in my kitchen that in the living room so meal times are more of a show and tell than anything else. Em sits in her high chair and asks to look at everything on all the shelves. She especially loves “Baby Jesus, so cute, I love it, I have it, soft, mine”. Most people don’t pray much more than that to get saved. haha. More understanding is needed yet on that one. It’s neat because I bring her the ornament to look at, but she’s not allowed to touch it. It’s going to be a good thing to teach her now before she ends up like her daddy and needs to see everything in her hands. I am foreseeing shopping trips being easier in the future. Also she loves the Jingle bell dancing guys we got last Christmas. She makes me push the button about a million times during the meal. I’m going to have to go over and apologize to my neighbors for musically assaulting them. If you want to know what is a worse noise for your neighbors to wake up to read Leahs blog from today.

Emily’s favorite toy right now is a nativity scene puzzle that my Gramma sent for her to play with before Christmas. I think I may have already done it about 100 times. She loves to throw the pieces everywhere and then collect them one at a time and help me put them together. I thought the puzzle would be way to advanced for her, but she loves it and she’s not really that far off being able to do it. I’m going to have to get her some puzzles for Christmas.

I can’t decide what to get her for Christmas. There is so much to choose from for kids. I don’t just want to get her some misc toys. I want learning things and creativity things and books. I don’t really think all those “learning things” they sell in the store are really that helpful. I’m sure some of them are great, but seriously like a video game is really going to help a toddler. Emily doesn’t even watch T.V. ok well she does sometimes at a friends house, but it’s not part of her routine. We read books all day. I know I want to get her more books. Mostly so mommy doesn’t go crazy reading the same ones over and over. There is a newer series kinda like veggie tales that’s called Boz. You can get a whole pack of their board books for pretty reasonable. Or Robert Munsch books or Dr. Seuss. Or oodles of other things. Don’t get me started on Ebay. But would she even care…probably not. She has oodles of toys already. I wish we had a busier freecycle here. I would totally get more stuff from there for her and not spend a dime. Christmas is just one of those dilemmas hey. I just know I want to beat the statistic and not go into debt just so Christmas morning is fun.

I think my rants of late are mostly caused by emotional eating. haha. Emily is teething so bad right now she is making her momma crazy. If only we had some gypsies living near by. For the cutie she is Em has been so bad lately. It’s one of the hardest things I find as a parent to not respond in anger, but to discipline fairly and with mercy. I started a new thing this week and so far it’s working pretty good. Em has been royally grumpy lately and so for no reason she is being really whiny. I’m afraid this mommy doesn’t do so well with a whiner. So instead of giving her 500 time outs in a day just so she will calm down we started giving “quiet times”. I ask her is she needs a quite time and I take her hand and we choose a book and she sits in her little chair and reads to her self while looking at me and saying “Shhhhh”. She seems to calm down right away. I’m sure it wont work perfect every time, but I think it’s a good thing to start now and then when she gets older it will be good for her to have some down time and some peace and quite for mommy. It’s alot better than punishing her just because she’s in a bad mood. I started to write out how it made me feel but I decided it was too long for today so I’ll set it up for tomorrow. g’day.

Je t'aime cafe

I didn’t mean to but I guess I took another blog holiday. Last week was pretty busy.

Emily is cutting all 4 molars this week. Ahh. I was trying to figure out why she had been such a whiner last week and now I have my answer. Roxy is cutting her wisdom teeth too so her and M can be whiny together. M was up for almost an hour today before we put her back down. She was so tired and drooly and unruly and whiny and make-your-momma-crazy!
So now I’m back to enjoying my quite morning and my slightly cold coffee.

I wore my bangs down again yesterday. Now that totals 2 times since I got them forever ago. I think they are finally long enough that I can have the pretty, swoopy sideways, bangs instead of the emo short, stick out of my head, bangs that remind me way to much of my mushroom cut from 1992. It’s almost enough to give me flashbacks.

We finally remembered to pick up m our camera from the church. Its been there for several weeks, so no new pictures for right now. It’s so stinking cold out right now too so playing with M outside is not likely to happen. I’m hoping to take some pictures this week. M is changing so fast I have to keep up with my pictures as they soon become outdated.

I had my third French Class last night. It was really fun. We played a guys against girls quiz game. Out team was called “Les Singe mauves et grosses”. It means “The purple fat monkeys”. So we have a limited vocab to make a name up from ok. Our motto was “Je t’aime cafe”. “I love you coffee!”. I messed that up once and now I cant say it any other way.

I did good at my French, but the part I had a problem with was spelling an English word with French Letters. Seriously I spelled “Wednesday” WRONG! Who does that after grade three. I didn’t say the French letters wrong, I actually spelled the word wrong. I can spell pretty well if I can write it down first, but nope. Straight out of my head onto the board. Coco wrote down what I spelled. “W E N oops”. Cause thats what I said. It was pretty funny. So there you go Roxy. Just one more reason you can bug me about my spelling.

I’ve been saving money for Friday. It’s Midnight madness. I’m hoping to get some Christmas shopping done. At least stocking stuffers and stuff. Probably some stuff for Emily too. Ooh I need to get a paper today. It will have all the sale times and stuff. Ain’t nothing like a good sale.

Danielle and Coco and I are having a Christmas movie Marathon. We’ve been watching classic Christmas movies and the new ones too. I was going to put them up, but I think they will be tomorrows Thu13.

Computer dumb dumb

I’m not particularly interested in blogging tonight. Working on my computer is turning out to be dumb. The video card stopped working, so picture trying to used the computer with drunk goggles on. Not impossible, but you don’t feel well afterwards. So today Morgan figured out how to use some program with our laptop which is next to obsolete, to make the extra monitor work through the laptop, on to the internet and log on to our computer. That long evil sentence to say that this is slow and annoying and I have to use a new keyboard and well actually I’m enjoying blogging.

My day was LONG! Emily has been teething this week. I think tooth 7 is just about through. The last two days have made me seriously consider taking out a don’t want ad in the paper. “Toddler. Free to a medium good home. o.b.o” Cause thats what she’s being medium good or best offer! She make her momma crazy.

I’ll admit it. I have an addiction. Smile Cookies are at Tim Hortons right now. WOW those are good. I currently don’t feel well from eating 1 too many. That makes the total 3. They’re big ok. come on Court…look away from the bag. don’t do it. you can beat this thing. Im not going to bed anytime soon, so we’ll see.

I have officially finished my first application to school. It only took me a week. I phoned in to make my next appointment with the counselor as instructed. I think the lady at the front desk remembered me cause she said”You finished it already”? I was like. “Um…yes.” I figured a week was average time not speedy gonzolas time. I mean I want to go to school so you’d think I’d want to take a short amount of time filling in the blanks on an application. I just lucked out with my interviews. I got a hold of everyone right away and they were really helpful. Anyway, I have an appointment on Friday. I’m hoping that will go well and I can move on to the next step in this process. I’m so excited already I can’t wait to start.

I made super duper awesome cheese in burgers. I love making burgers from scratch. They taste so much better and I know whats in them too. Nothing like having the cheese built right into your burger. Or as Emily would say:”Hangerber. yummy”.

Well I don’t think I have any pictures on the laptop so no looking looking today. Maybe when the vidcard shows up from Ebay. AHHH. I’m already lost without my CPU.

What a Life

Not one single thing I planned on today happened. I was going to get up and have a leisurely morning, go for a run with Morgan, eat a salad for lunch, kiss Morgan good bye and help him make his lunch for work, play Lego Star Wars while Em slept if Coco could come over, eat a quick dinner and pick up a babysitter for Emily, Go to a consecration night at the church followed by worship practice and then when Emily was in bed and the babysitter was home I’d blog. I am now apologizing for the horrendous run on sentence. Mr. Ebbison, my English teacher, would be appalled. At least it’s spell checked, ok?

Here is what I did do. This time I’m apologizing in advance for my run on sentence.
I overslept, missing a phone call from Lana telling me to come to the drop in lunch at the resource center, I decided to go because I hadn’t seen Lana in a long time, remembering that Emily could go in the play room now because she is old enough I got her ready in a rush and headed out the door. After about 4 minuted in the play room Emily Freaked out because of the noise and then that was the end of my info session. I played in the playroom with Em for another 15 minutes before she really freaked out and demanded I let her eat crayons. Since I ate crayons as a kid I decided I wanted better things for Emily and we went home. Because Em hadn’t been up very long she wasn’t impressed with an early nap, but there was no way she was staying up either so off to bed with you! I enjoyed a pizza for lunch and woke Emily up for a “Lift the Lip” appointment with a dentist that Lana so graciously shared with me.

Emily did amazing with the dentist. She cried for a second while her mouth got the checking, but otherwise she was just super excited to hold a giant tooth brush. We got super points for being awesome parents and doing all the correct dental things for Em. My Extra Mom would be so Proud. Ill have to tell her. The Lady was so impressed with Emily and her routine that she gave me a sticker. Well Em didn’t want it so I got an Ernie sticker and a glow in the dark toothbrush. Can one really brush adequately in the dark? I doubt it. We didn’t even get a fluoride treatment. Touchy subject I know, but I would have got the treatment done if the lady had recommended it. She didn’t because Em doesn’t have a bottle to go to bed or a bottle at all actually. She doesn’t drink juice ever or snack all day. She gets her teeth brushed at least once a day, but we are working on twice. She doesn’t breast feed in the middle of the night. AND she can say “Bwush ya teeth!”. She even said it to the Lady. Tooth 5 is in ad 6 is almost through. Praise the Lord!

Then I went for a walk with Kris and Lana, looked around a toy store and bought Emily her very first Robert Munsch Book. I plan on her having the whole set of Robert Munsch books because I loved them so much as a kid. I bought her my all time favorite one. The Paper Bag Princess. I love it. I think Ill make her read it over and over and over again. Then we got blizzards. I felt sick after a few bites, but ate the whole thing anyways. Whats wrong with me? Chocolate is evil. Then we visited Kim. Emily proceeded to eat rocks and dirt and scrape her knees twice. We have got to get a yard for her to play in. Then maybe she wont be such a monkey outside. Then we saw Karen and Brian’s new house. They are from our prenatal group. I expected Em to have a big melt down by this point, but she managed to play nicely with Promise and Rain. A couple of handfuls of dog food ingested later and we walked home for an early dinner.

Spending the rest of the evening freaking out was really fun. I was supposed to be at church, but things didn’t work out with a babysitter and I didn’t want to dump Em on anyone else last minute. Good thing too because she was, in her words “Gwumpy girl”.
Now it’s the end of a very long day and I’m trying to unwind.I’m going to do a Thursday Thirteen just for fun and probably read a book until Morgan gets off work. Gnight. Oh and I Edited Emily’s Page.

TMNT
Took me back a couple of years. Roxy and I watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last night. The new one. Being as I was obsessive about it for many a year as a small girl. The funny thing is that I thought that I probably wouldn’t like it anymore…wrong. Ok so once a geek always a geek.

b&G
Speaking of Geek. We only have one episode left of the rerun 05 Beauty and the Geek. Its been fun watching the “Social experiment”. We were right ticked tho because the first season it reran didn’t air the final episode. I skipped it and ran the aftermath one. NOT cool. So we knew who won, but not why they did…stupid station. We checked to make sure this one was going to have an ending. We wouldn’t have watched it otherwise.

Em has been the nap queen for the last couple of days. I think she is teething really badly. She has been awake for like an hour before wanting to go back to sleep. Then she naps for like 4 hours and gets up all grumpy still. She went to bed without 1 tear last night. Not even an eep. She rolled over onto her tummy, stuck her butt in the air and closed her eyes. She was so tired I guess, but she wasn’t even grumpy. It was so nice for a change. She normally goes down fine, but cries or complains for a minute or two.

I’m trying to psych myself into cleaning mode. I did a bunch on the office this morning, but I still really want to get the basement done. The office is easier to do because its just trying to get stuff sorted out and then put it away. The basement is …well scary. I’m hoping I’ll have more time next week because Morgan is on mornings and will be home more. YAY!

I think they are through! Well at least one of Emily’s top teeth is through. What a whiny crappy thing to have to go through just so you can chew stuff. Haha. My little toddler is sleeping away her blues while her teeth come in. She has practically slept all day for the last two and slept most of the night. She gets all whiny at about 6:30 am, but manages to sleep still. Lucky for mommy. I slept better last night so thats good. I’ve felt like quite the insomniac for the last two weeks. I really haven’t slept well at all.

I have a really tough decision to make. I’m kind of nervous about it too. I need to get a hair cut. If I don’t I’m going to look like a snow beast. Im thinking of going for shoulder length and thinning the crap out of it. It will probably look like a shih tzu(see*) got murdered on the floor of the salon, but I think it will be worth it. It’ll be nicer for the rest of the summer. I think the thing I’m most worried about is how lazy I am to do my hair. I think I need to make a pact with myself to not wear bandannas ever again. (except when dressing up. All good pirates need bandannas) . I’m also pretty worried because if you read yesterdays blog Roxy got her hair cut and well it turned into a mullet. I’ve already told Morgan that if I get mullet-ed I’m shaving my head. No ifs ands or butts. Next week Morgan works afternoons so I think Ill book a chop chop.

I am officially ON. We aren’t going anywhere for the next little while and my house is free of crappola food so I am ON. I’ll admit I am having a lack of interest to going to the gym, but I can actually go next week so I’m going to go. I’ve decided this very minute that if I go to the gym 5 days next week I’m going to get a present! Maybe an album from itunes or something. Yeah! Wish me luck or wish me determination or something.

I’m going to go do laundry.

(*)ok so Leah and I went to see the fish guy at the pet store. Remember the guy with the puberty voice. And we wanted to buy some fish, but we went to look at the puppies. While we were looking the fish guy comes up and says those are “shizzoo multipoos, very adorable. I don’t like to say the shhh part” (include voice cracking for effect and realism). Ok so after we picked ourselves off the floor and died laughing extremely discretely so as not to offend we got our fish. Leah Fish and Courtenay fish to take with us to college because we would miss each other. End of odd story…

The internet has a hole. I’m serious. Lets take this back a ways. This whole thing started when my sister got her hair cut into a Mullet. For those of you not familiar with the mullet check out this page. Especially the unfortunullett. Anyways… I digress. back to my sisters mullet. There are no good pictures or even songs to describe my sisters mullet. Luckily it isn’t an unfortunullet because she know she has it and is trying to think of a good way to deal with that. ok so this is where the hole comes in. The only way to describe Roxy’s mullet is to call her Linda from the wedding singer. If you haven’t seen The Wedding Singer you have other problems, but Linda has a serious 80’s mullet. Do you think we can find a picture of Linda anywhere???NO!!! what? There is actually something missing on the internet. What if I was 12 and doing my home work and I asked jeeves what Linda’s mullet looked like. Jeeves would probably freak out and all the planes in the world would crash or something. Someone needs to fix this hole and Roxy’s mullet ASAP or the very world could implode. P.S. “Roxy get out of my Van Halen t-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up!”

As for my daughters cuteness factor… She’s 15 months now and chatty like a choo choo. Her favy thing to say right now is “Rock-a-bye-Be”. So she misses it a bit, its still sooo cute. She grabs her doll and rocks it back and forth. Everything is a baby to her. Its the most common word she uses. “bye bye baby ducky” “bye baby daddy”"baby baby up rock baby daddy”. You get the picture. Morgan taught her to go “ho ha he ha ho” when he says “What does Yoko Ono say? So I taught her to go “uh huh” and put her lip up when I say “What does Elvis say?”. Some times she gets them all confused and when we ask her what daddy says she does Elvis or Yoko. She makes me laugh so hard.

She is just waking up right now. Singing and chatting to herself. She has been teething so badly. We have had several days of endless screaming. Nothing helps. Not Tylenol, not the ice cube in the cloth trick, not gin, nothing. You can even see her teeth. They are so close to the surface. It looks like she has rice stuck to her gums. Man teething would hurt. I am so sick of it and Em only has 2 teeth. grr. Today she was eating peas, but she kept saying poop. She gets things mixed up. haha.

Morgans shift changed this week. His weekends got cut so he started working regular week. It sucks. We are used to having daddy home so much more. Its a big change for us and its only been a few days. Last summer we traveled for 6 weeks. We didnt realize how awesome that was until now. Although it is nice to be in our own house for more than 2 days in a row. We are really hoping to make it out to the lake for a few weekends in August. We were just out there with Nathan and Danielle. We had such a fun time. It was so relaxing. Only the second time We’ve brought friends out to the lake with us. We were stoked that their schedule matched up enough with ours that they could come.

I think she’s up now. Dinner time.

Teeth are Mean

Ahhh I hate teething. Emily’s top 2 teeth are finally coming through. I thought they broke through yesterday, but alas not quite. I can see them both now though. We had a rotten day yesterday. First she got up stupid early and wanted to play and scream at the same time. Then at nap time she wouldnt sleep at all. She just screamed for like 3-4 hours. I just held her in the dark in her room(yes she has her own room at Grandpa and Nanny’s house…silly huh?). It was painful. It was better because she went to bed early and Morgan and I went to the theatre.

We saw Pirates 3. My review is still undecided at this point. I think I liked it, but I’m not sure. It was a fair bit darker and less plucky comic relief than normal. It’s the silliness that I like. Well that and the swash buckling. There were a couple parts that got kinda creepy for my taste. AND it was really long. They had tons of story to tell in the small amount of time. I liked it over all I think. I guess I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to pirates. Swordfighting, treasure, sailing, batten down the hatches, hoist the mainsail…that kind of stuff. Too much CGI kind of gets on my nerves. I think thats why I like to read so much. My mind can do a way better job of making mythical or weird creatures look better. My mind has special effects built in. haha. So yes I liked it.

Whelp we are going out for lunch without my darling toddler so that will be super. Nanny is going to watch her while Morgan and I run a few arrends and get some lunch. Wish me luck in conning Morgan into Gelato!!!mmm I can taste it now.

MLE

Today M.L.E.(just figured this out playing with her blocks…sound it out) Gave me a shiner. I was laying on my back on the floor playing with her and she was all cuddly which doesn’t happen very often. Then she said “up”(her newest word). She stood up tripped on her own leg and came crashing down on my face. She sent my glasses flying which cut my eyelid(stings like a…something that stings). They she was so excited to go grab my glasses that she didn’t even cry. My mom was on a conference call so yelling “I hate Pain” (thanks for that one Heidi) was out of the question. Ill have to remember and do that later.(I’m feeling bracket happy today)

Yesterday we went to the park with Georgia and Flynn. Oh but first a musical interlude…”don dun daaaaah”. We stopped at the moose and I whined to the lady about wishing that you could get a cold London Fog like how you get Chai Frappe’s. She was like oh. We could make that. Its a London Frost. I proceeded to jump up and down and spin around and sing “I’m a little teapot” at the top of my lungs. Or I said “YAY!” and ordered a London Frost, which I will be ordering for the rest of the summer as a healthy alternative to slushies, which suck! Ok back to the park.

We put the tiny tots in the swings and then let them go down the slide. They loved it. I have the hardest time keeping MLE from eating the pea gravel. She’s still teething and still has only 2 teeth. Then we took them down to the creek to let them play in the mud. MLE was in her element. Nakey as the day she was born and covered in MUD. Flynn was in baby hell. He apparently doesn’t like to be dirty or touch grass. Poor little guy was not so excited to be dirty. We’ll have to work on that. I have a couple of good pictures from playing in the park.
