Come Downstairs Mom

I’m done for the day! What a crazy day. I’m not sure which is harder studying all day or trying to keep Emily busy and out of trouble. She’s getting mischievous. Little turkey grins at me and grabs whatever it is I didn’t want her to grab. So here is today’s moment of utter madness:

I run upstairs to punch some holes in this weeks recipes from Saving dinner. Then from downstairs I hear “Come downstairs Mom”. I head for the stairs and look down to find a completely nude toddler. She says to me “I go potty”. I’m like “ok we’ll go potty. Hope she didn’t pee on the floor”. Thats when I see them. Turds!!! Everywhere!!! AND one of them got stepped in and smooshed into the carped, and is now presumably being walked all over the living room on a size 5 foot. I guess I took to long coming back. So I took Em to the potty and cleaned her all up and shoved her in her high chair with some crayons while I dealt with…eww. Sooo anyways I shampooed the carpet today. Another step ahead of the Flylady routine. haha. I was only supposed to shine my sink, but I got all crazy and shampooed the carpet. Even though it was necessary I still count it as a point.

I hate potty training. Actually Em is really good at it already. She’s only pooped twice, but if I’m home all day she will only pee in the potty. It’s harder when she’s at a babysitters or something. She is too afraid to miss something, so she wont go. I bought her a potty book today. She loves that. And we got her Dora fruit snacks. Those are her candy treat. She’s never even seen Dora, but for some reason she is in love with her. Its weird. I’m not even sure she’ll ever get to watch Dora, but I’m ok with milking the “Dora” aspect of the treats for potty training. I figure she must have seen it once at someone else’s house or something. I cant even figure out how she knows who Dora is. She calls her Doy-ra.

I rocked the drums last night! I played with my Dads high school guitar class for their concert. It was like three hours. It was so much fun. I was so impressed with how good some of those punks are getting. When my high school guitar class played anything they only picked notes on nylon string guitars and pretty much just played Louie Louie. These kids were awesome. I was a bit nervous because most of the songs I had never even heard except yesterday when I looked them up on Youtube. I hadn’t played any of them before. The drums for Kryptonite by Three Doors Down is pretty tough to just go on stage and play for your first time, but It went pretty good. I kept losing my monitor, which was frustrating, but still ok. I have the theme song from Grey’s Anatomy stuck in my head. They did such an awesome job of it. We even played on song I had never heard before. It’s easier to do that with church songs than regular rock, but I’m glad it worked out good. I wore Roxy’s big Flying V earrings just for dramatic effect. I’m trying to get the video off my camera, but the last time I did it crashed my computer, so we’ll see how it goes.

Ok so seriously awesome movie…Stardust! I loved it. I think I can safely compare it to the league of such greats as Princess Bride and The emperors new groove. It ruled. If you haven’t seen it, you should. It’s a classic. I’m going to buy it next chance I get, otherwise It’ll cost me a small fortune renting it over and over and over. Its the story of a Young man who heads across a wall into another world to search for a fallen star to bring back a piece for the girl he loves. His journey is amazing. He runs into what’s left of 7 princes also seeing the star. Witches, Pirates, and even a goat turned into a man. How could that not be awesome. I want to tell you the whole story, but I don’t want to ruin it for you. And for the record: Robert De Niro is my hero!

Damsel In Distress

I am getting so good at this whole rescue the damsel thing. I guess this one is technically my fault, but really no. On his way home from work last night at midnight, my darling husband ran out of gas. Lucky for him I had a friend over and could go and get him. It was funny. *SIDE NOTE – Freshmint gum and Pepsi tastes like yucky*

I’m most of the way through my school application. Here’s hoping that all goes well. I’ve been reading alot about the Speech Language Pathologist Assistant program and I find is crazy interesting. I’m hoping to start as soon as possible, but we’ll see. I’ve already missed the deadline for October, but if things go smooth , I could make it in for November. I don’t think I’d start until January otherwise. December is always so crazy. Cant believe I’m planning into December. I think I will do well with online schooling. I’m pretty good at self motivating. I’ll have to use my time better, but at this point I can do what I need to when I need to.

Roxy is moving home today!! I’m all excited. That kid can make me laugh…seriously. She starts her new jorb on the weekend. I think it will be neat for her to be around Emily more, because Em loves her “Auntie Roxy Pirate YAARRR!” so much. I have her picture on our fridge. Emily waves and says goo morning to it. Its cute. Its amazing how her little mind works.

We have a 24 hour worship thing on Saturday – Sunday. I’m looking forward to it. I was supposed to play for alot of it, but I think I’m only play a few hours now. I don’t think I could have lasted that long. haha. oops that reminds me I need to phone my babysitter and confirm stuff.

I put all my Loon like pix up on my Facebook. It just uploads better than WordPress and has unlimited space. Then I dont have to shrink the pics either. Here is a couple though for you.

Bloggedy

Em is waking up so we’ll see how far we get on todays Bloggy.

Youth last night was good. We are working on some of the new songs. We didn’t actually play them though cause they need a bit more TLC. Plus who can instantly sound as good as delirious? Seriously? Next week we are takin it to the streets. Youth is in the A&W Parkinglot. Heres the story about it on CCLF’s page. 7pm everybody! I’m really looking forward to it. Some summers we do youth in the parking lot every week, but this summer we only get one shot. We just have a smaller crew this year during the summer.

Em is awake so Ill just post a couple pics from the weekend and maybe blog later.

ek1
Em already loves Golf. Well she loves hitting people with Golf clubs.
ek2
Em fell in Love with her cousins princess sandals.

L'chyim (Think Yiddish)

How many funny things can happen in one day? In my world the potential is amazing. I think of hundreds of things to blog about all day long, but then I cant remember them all. I’m tempted to carry a voice recorder and then have dragon naturally speaking transcribe it. Riiight. Since I’m that big of a nerd that’s exactly what I will do. or not do. Here is the lowdown of some of the funny things that happened in the last day.

I got called middle aged. Can someone help me with the knife in my back please.

Emily ate dirt and then…yep you guessed it…pooped dirt.

Emily choked on Timmys and Georgia rescued her.

Then she chucked her very full sippy cup which exploded in Timmys

Emily said the “F” word about a hundred times today trying to say “Walk”.

I cant remember them, but several times Morgan and I had word communication problems, which pretty much means one of us hears something absolutely ridiculous that the other person didn’t say.

Those are just some examples of my typical day. Not even counting our adventures in the supermarket. Again…I need to write a book about the weird things that happen to me. There could be a whole chapter on grocery stores.

I learned some new songs today. I’ve been trying to find some new things to play at youth. I found a bunch of good stuff. I burned L’chyim some stuff to try. I practiced a bunch of the new songs and I really like them. I’ve been playing my guitar so much lately. I love it. I’ve been learning alot and just having alot of fun. I’ve been playing my electric the most. Im turning into the noodle kid. The one that never shuts up. noodle noodle noodle. Its ok tho cause I wear my head phones.

I’m in the middle of a good book, so I’m gonna go read it and stay up late waiting for Morgan to get home again. I hate going to bed when he is still at work. It’s only till midnight tonight tho. So thats nice.

Mr. Mr. and Lady Lady!

Apparently Morgan isn’t talking to me. Something about putting Hal Johnson on my blog. Haha. I guess it offended him. well you know. I always get offended by guys in track suits too. Ill have to cut him some slack.

I had to call 911 last night. I went to a friends house after youth for a little going away party. While I was driving home I got cut off by some psycho who decided to go 60 on the highway. Then they were swerving all over the highway, cutting corners and slamming there brakes at nothing. It was pretty scary. While I was talking to the 911 lady the car signaled and pulled into the other lane across a double yellow line and then swerved back to miss a semi. It was freaky. The 911 lady was like “can you get closer and get the license plate”? I was like “no way”! but then I did cause psycho slammed his brakes again and went really slow for a few minutes. It was really weird. I don’t like phoning 911, but I had to cause buddy was either gonna kill someone else or himself.

Morgan got my a Beatles album that I love to pieces. Its called “Back n the U.S.”. We used to have the DVD of that concert and I’ve always loved the music from it. Im so excited to listen to it on my new iPod dock. Its gonna rule!

Ive been making better food for Emily again. It gets easier as it gets into summer and the fruit and veggies are nicer again. I picked up a baby food book at the library, after paying Morgans small mortgage in late fees. It says to blender everything, but its just giving me good ideas pre-blendering. I like getting to be more creative with her food. She will pretty much eat anything. Her favy right now is kiwi puree and cherry puree in her oatmeal. Not at the same time tho. Each mixed with banana. I started adding Bran to her Power oatmeal too. She loves it. Once in a while I forget one of the Power-Three (wheat germ, ground flax or bran) and she doesn’t like it as much.

I’m cooking Mexican again. I made my own corn tortillas from meseca flour. MMM. We got a press so they even looked cute. Simply amazing with Salsa. Well pretty much anything is amazing with salsa.

Daddy is putting Emmy down for a nap so I’d better go clean some stuff before Auntie Georgia and Flynndiana Jones come over.

Lindsay and Olin
To Lindsay and Olin! I will miss you muchly. Good Luck on the Sunshine Coast!

Car Seats are Complicated.

I’m having an awesome day. The youth got a new sound board for Morgan to play with and Emily’s car seat came in today so we both had stuff to figure out. It took me forever to figure out how to adjust the car seat to actually fit Em. I love it tho. Its great colours and it even has a cup holder/cappuccino machine. Emily likes the new seat so much better already. Her legs aren’t all smashed up against the back seat. She still has to be rear facing until she gets a bit bigger, but this seat is definitely more comfy for her.

Emily hardly crawls anymore. She is getting so good at walking she doesn’t like to crawl. Its cute. She can even pick something off the ground without falling. Last night she tried to run. I just about died. It was so funny. She ran for about 3 feet then did a nice big head dive. Got a bit ahead of herself.

She is saying so much more now too. I didn’t realize it because lots of her words just sound like sounds. If you say “what noise does a doggie make?” she says “oof oof”. And she make car sounds and sheep sounds. She still says “uh oh” to everything and “ah da” for all done. “ma ma” is still reserved for whining only and she sings songs all day about her “da da”. Its really cute. She know at lots of signs too.

I did the most motherly thing Ive ever done for Emily yesterday. I made her scrambled eggs. I couldn’t bring myself to try them, but she liked them so they must have been ok. I made them again for my mom today to try so I’d know if they were ok. Morgan thinks it’d be funny if I started liking eggs because I’m going to have to make them for Emily. I doubt it.

I wrote a song today. I haven’t wrote a song in quite a while. It kind of came to me fast too. I was pretty excited. I guess I didn’t really write it. The psalmist wrote it in psalm 119. I think we might even sing it at church. I recorded it at the church before worship practice, but the recording doesn’t have the drums mic’d so I’m not putting it up here. Anyways. I’m just having fun with my electric guitar.

Resurrection Sunday.

Probably the best day ever. My life would be absolutely meaningless without Resurrection Sunday. Well not the one in 2007, but the one a long time ago when Jesus rose from the dead. It really makes my life worth living. The thought of living this life without the knowledge that Jesus died for me and then rose again is…well sad. But today I am full of joy instead. Todays Easter service was great. I really enjoyed it. I had a blast playing the drums today. I even heard a few new rhythms come out of these hands.

Emily and I went for a really really long walk. It didn’t start out as a long walk, but it ended up that way. We were going to do the big loop around town. It takes about 45 minutes normally. We made it all the way around the loop and were headed past Save On when I realized that Emily had turfed her hat out of the stroller. AHH. That hat cost me 1 penny on Ebay + S&H. How could she be so careless and throw her hat out of the buggy. Ok well I wasn’t actually mad at all. I laughed and we turned around and backtracked. I probably wouldn’t have cared, but I really like the darn little hat. Its so stinkin cute. We finally found the hat most of the way back to where we started. Haha. silly Emily.

Well tomorrow is hop back on the health wagon. no more pop and pizza. Needless to say it was a rough couple of weeks. Ill find out the damage tomorrow at the gym. I’m even going earlier than normal tomorrow because Morgan has a dentist appt. and Thats the only time I can go. I’m not really looking forward to stepping on the scale tomorrow. I’m supposed to do a weigh in too. This is the first time Ive been nervous about a weigh in. the last few were so fun because Id practically melted the weight off. I’m pretty sure I’m still at a loss for this month, but it cant be that much. I’m still in the process of writing some new realistic goals for myself. Well see how it goes, but theres no way I’m going back up. Down down down!

Driving Tunes 2 – The sequel

Is it true that sequels are never as good as the first movie? I’m pretty sure.

For Example:

Jurassic Park 2 “The Lost World” – Bites
The Lion King 2 “Simba’s Pride” – Lame
Aladin 2 “The return of Jafar” – Crappy
Batman Returns – Slit your wrists bad
Bring it on again – actually in this case I think number 1 sucked too.
Home Alone 2 – Need I even go there. Number 3 doesnt even have Macaulay.
Meet the Fockers – Again with the prequel sucked too thing.
Speed 2 – Big time suck…how can it be speedy on a cruise ship.
Star Wars Episode 2 – Biggest waste of time ever.
Dumb and Dummerer:When Harry Met Lloyd – Yawn
Ernest Saves Christmas – Oh Brother this was bad.
Shanghai Knights – What a letdown
The only Sequels that are better than the firsts

Toy Story 2
X-Men 2
The Mummy Returns
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Star Wars Return of the Jedi.

Don’t even get me started on Remakes.

Anyways. I was just thinking about my sequel CD and that got me thinking about these. Gotta burn a few more for the trip.

Road Trip Tunes

I’m trying to get everything all packed for my trip. I’m taking a break from the hustle and bustle of packing. I’m probably going to have to leave a couple days early and drive a couple of Youth to Kamloops for a spring break discipleship school. Rather than drive to Kamloops and back on Sunday and then leave again for kamloops on Tuesday I think Ill just carry on through to Richmond on Sunday night. I’d be more inclined to come home on Sunday if the highways weren’t all closed. I’m pretty sure I have to take the Coquihalla anyways.

I’m burning a bunch of CD’s for the trip. Morgan can’t come with me anymore so it’ll be my first trip down by myself and with Emily too. I’m going to be all nice and leave my iPod for Morgan while he is at work. I’m trying to decide what I’d like to listen to. I have a few audio books I could take or maybe just make some playlists of good driving tunes. I wonder if I Google driving music if Ill find any suggestion for the best road trip music.

I officially hate doing Laundry. ok maybe not as much as vacuuming or taking out the garbage, but I hate it all the same. I don’t mind all the first part, but I really don’t like folding it. Plus I never catch it when it’s done so everything is wrinkly. Some one in my house take serious issue to there being wrinkles in “his” clothes. Not that I get in trouble or something, but he still wont wear stuff with wrinkles.

Haha. This really awkward guy just phones to see if Morgan would take a survey. I said “Morgan Hates surveys, but if it’s important I could take it”. (Morgan always thinks I’m crazy for talking to telemarketers).Lately I’ve been getting alot better at saying “No Thank you” and interrupting there schpeel. But this guy sounded so awkward I just didn’t want to hurt his poor(probably Emo) feelings. Turns out I cant take his dumb survey because I’m not 25. Stupid regulations. haha.

Well…Emily is waking up so time to get back to this whole packing/laundry/craziness experience.

Off you go…go get your rain stick.

Today I was so cute I got a free bottle of liqueur.I just asked if they sold this vanilla flavored stuff in bottles smaller than my head and the lady was like “um…No”. So Morgan piped in something like “but what if it tastes like draino”? So she found us a small bottle attached to another bottle and stuck it on Morgans bottle of wine. We were looking for different things to cook with like wine and well anything else too.

We bought a couple of spices today because I insist that the ones that came with the jars are old and nasty. I wonder how long spices really last. I’m not sure, but I couldn’t handle it today so we had to get some new ones. We didn’t replace them all just the main ones we use all the time like cayenne, cumin and paprika. We are still on our Mexican food kick. Tonight is just tacos, but we’ve started making our own taco seasoning and fresh salsa. We were all excited to make corn tortillas from scratch, but Safeway didn’t have mesa corn flour. So no homemade tacos for us. I make good flour tortillas, but Id like to learn to make corn ones too.

We went to the Amnesty concert at PSO today. It was really good. My dad is the Guitar teacher at the school so he sang a song and his class played a couple too. My “extra” Dad, Mark, played a few songs too. They sang Pretty Vegas by J.D. Fortune and it rocked. I had a really hard time not dying laughing because there was this kid who was using his ability to play guitar to educate his school in…well I’m not really sure, but his taste in music leaves something to be desired. It was pretty bad alright. It reminded me of this one time in Bella Coola when this lady got up to sing and she couldn’t really play guitar and she had her mom stand behind her with a rain stick going “ooohhh aaahhhh oohh eeee”. It was so awful, but My family was sitting in the front row so we couldn’t laugh which ultimately meant we couldn’t look at each other at all.
