Picture Days

It was a gorgeous day yesterday. So we decided not to waste it. Coco, Danielle, Emily and I walked around Sepa Lake. It was certainly not the best time we’ve ever made because Em insisted she walk most of the lake. I was all nerdy and made Emily wear her halloween costume just to take good pictures. On halloween we are having a party at the church called light up the night. I’m pretty stoked about that. It’s Pirate theme though so Em cant exactly show up as snow white. The good news is that she still fits her Pirate costume from last year so we are good to go. I got some good pictures from yesterday. I’m not sure why, but my computer is corrupting Jpeg’s. Most of my pics get all choppy and messed up. I’m not cool with that. So we’ll have to figure out why. Otherwise all of Ems baby pics are now distorted an funky. grr

Today is just Picture day.

We went out for a walk the other night. Emily was teething again and we needed to try and keep her up a bit longer without losing sanity. The fog had rolled in and the streetlight cast this warm glow all over town. It was quite picturesque really. When we first opened the door of our townhouse and pushed out the stroller, there, waiting for us was a kitty. He was definitely pretty young. Black, with a white belly and white gotee.Or whatever a cat chin beard is called. haha. We started walking and the kitty followed us.  We thought it was pretty cute, but we were pretty sure he’d stop when we got to the edge of the the townhouse driveway. Nope. We had a little friend for our entire walk. After about a block we decided our kitty needed a name. We decided on Theodore Mosby. Named after the great Ted from How I Met Your Mother. And then in short order started just calling him Mosby. Now, Mosby wasnt your tipical cat. He walked right beside us, ran ahead a little to see what he could see and ran back. He would run up to a tree and crouch way down as if to jump up into it and the turn and keep walking with us as if to say ” I could climb that tree, but I won’t. I’d rather walk with you guys”. When we walked passed BJ’s Donuts Mosby jumped all the little chains in the walk way. Kindof like a little trained poodle.

Several times on our walk different people would walk by us and Mosby would stop to say hello. “Come on Mosby” I’d say. “How cute. Is that you cat?”. I’d just smile and laugh and say “Come on Mosby”.  Because afterall…He’s not our cat. Mosby followed us all the way across town, which is not actually that far all things considered, but he still walked a long ways. As we walked up our driveway and walked passed the first block Mosby stoped and sat there watching us walk on as if to say “That was fun guys, we should do lunch next week. Your place”.

Thus ends my crazy story about a cat. As for the rest of my week, its been rather busy. I had another meeting with my Schooling Lady. I had to fill out the last forms before they got sent away. This is my favorite part.

Lady “I need to get you to sign these forms”
Me “Sure”
Lady “This one is so I can share your information and your sin”
Me “Uh…what??”
Me after a minute of looking really stooopid as I figure out she means Social Security Number. ”Oh. ok. Sure”

Well sorry if I hadnt ever had anyone ask if they could tell other people my sin. I think they’re going to need a really big list, thats for sure. haha. I think sometimes we should sign wavers like that. Maybe I’d be more aware of what I say and do if I knew someone was keeping a big list to tell other people. I mean, I know God knows all of it, but for some reason I think it would be harder for me if everyone else did. It should be the other way around. We’ve been reading alot lately in Mark about how Jesus Called Sin “Sin”. He didnt excuse it or Sugar coat it. But He also didnt just let it go he delt with it.  I want my eyes to see just a bit more clearly. I miss so many things just because I’ve sugar coated them. grrr.

Then last night we went to Williams Lake with all the youth. We had a worship night at EFC that was awesome. I even got to paint. Then afterwards we went to the pool. It was called a Dive-In Theatre. Evan Almighty played on the big screen. We watched for a few minutes, but its hard to watch in the pool so we just swam. Coco and Shelby and I had super awsome fun jumping of the diving board and playing with Jakes underwater camera. Ill get those pics soon. They are funny. I either look like I’m 400 pounds or just like Im drowning. It was a fun night.

Damsel In Distress

I am getting so good at this whole rescue the damsel thing. I guess this one is technically my fault, but really no. On his way home from work last night at midnight, my darling husband ran out of gas. Lucky for him I had a friend over and could go and get him. It was funny. *SIDE NOTE – Freshmint gum and Pepsi tastes like yucky*

I’m most of the way through my school application. Here’s hoping that all goes well. I’ve been reading alot about the Speech Language Pathologist Assistant program and I find is crazy interesting. I’m hoping to start as soon as possible, but we’ll see. I’ve already missed the deadline for October, but if things go smooth , I could make it in for November. I don’t think I’d start until January otherwise. December is always so crazy. Cant believe I’m planning into December. I think I will do well with online schooling. I’m pretty good at self motivating. I’ll have to use my time better, but at this point I can do what I need to when I need to.

Roxy is moving home today!! I’m all excited. That kid can make me laugh…seriously. She starts her new jorb on the weekend. I think it will be neat for her to be around Emily more, because Em loves her “Auntie Roxy Pirate YAARRR!” so much. I have her picture on our fridge. Emily waves and says goo morning to it. Its cute. Its amazing how her little mind works.

We have a 24 hour worship thing on Saturday – Sunday. I’m looking forward to it. I was supposed to play for alot of it, but I think I’m only play a few hours now. I don’t think I could have lasted that long. haha. oops that reminds me I need to phone my babysitter and confirm stuff.

I put all my Loon like pix up on my Facebook. It just uploads better than WordPress and has unlimited space. Then I dont have to shrink the pics either. Here is a couple though for you.

My week has been crazy. I find it hardest to find time to blog when Morgan works Afternoons. It should be easiest, but somehow it never is. I guess I just get busier on nights when Morgan is at work. I stay up later too because I always want to see him after he gets off work. This week should be better because Morgan is on Days! YAY! I love this shift compared to afternoons. MK’s shift regular shift goes back on in two weeks. I’m so excited for that. He doesn’t miss so much and Emily gets her daddy home all day!

We did it! Coco and I beat Lego Star Wars. NERDY I know, but its super awesome. There are still tons of secret things to find and stuff to do, but I loved it.

Nerdier still…I won my reading contest! I’m not sure how many people were in it. I think I’d feel awful silly if it was just me. Weirder things have happened before. I don’t know what I won yet, but I get to find out on the weekend. Yay! I am so nerdy, yet cool. haha.I want to know the total of the books I read. The contest was by pages though so no loop holes there. Couldn’t just read 100 kids books. I’m not sure why my mind works that way, but it does. Human nature I suppose.

K. Now to tell you about my grand adventure! It all started on a rainy Sunday morning. Last Sunday morning to be precise. I woke up with a lovely sinus cold and a cranky baby. Hold on!! you need to be picturing one of those old black and white movies with the detective in the office and the sweet trench coat and Indiana Jones hat. Ok. You tracking with me..

Where was I… ok. While hurriedly getting ready for church I got Morgan to get me a sinus pill from the Medicine Mirror.I took the handed pill and downed it in one fowl (foul) swoop(who makes these sayings??).By the time I got to church I noticed my head was feeling pretty fuzzy. I was having a hard time focusing on playing the drums. When the worship was over I went and sat down.

That was when it hit me! Pseudoephedrine!!!!! Morgan gave me one of his sinus pills. not mine. I’m allergic to Pseudoephedrine. It makes my brain all fuzzy and I cant think. If I take it at night I don’t sleep. Grrr. This just sets the tone for the rest of my day. Having to let the big P wears off, I felt dozy and fuzzy headed all day. We had a nice afternoon with friends and a relaxing evening. Whats so bad about that you say?

At precisely 8:36 pm we get a collect call from a damsel in distress. She’ll kill me for saying that, just so you know what happens if I never blog again. My friends car broke down in Lytton. A.K.A Middle of nowhere with a gas station. Names have been changed to protect the innocent. We’ll just call her Elisha. She’ll kill me for saying that, just so you know what happens if I never blog again.haha. By about 9:30, when all the Dtails were figured out, I headed out on my grand adventure.

Having planned on going to bed when I put Emily to bed, I was in need of caffeine! For the most part the drive was uneventful, but foggy and with low visibility. My Jetta cruises. I love that it has spunk. Instead of the Jet I would have named her Zippy, but its not cool to double name after dead vehicles. I realize sometimes I get going a little fast, so I looked down at my speedometer to check my speed for a millisecond and thats when it hit me!

Or just missed me. The hugest bear I’d ever seen! Come on I’m in a Volkswagen. All bears are big to VW’s. I missed hitting Winny the Pooh by about a foot. Once my heart stopped leaping around the car and I’d thanked Jesus multiple times, I decided to stop in Cache Creek and go pee. I didn’t think I could handle another scare like that and not just pee my pants. Picked up a couple of munchies at the gas station and stood in a lineup to pay. When I got up to the girl at the cache register I noticed something very peculiar about her. Her mullet looked like it wore her, not the other way around! Freaky!

Here is what she said to me.”Hi, Are you a female trucker?”. I was like “Um no”. I started looking at my clothes for stains or at my pile of junk food for tell tale trucker food. Nothing…I couldn’t figure it out. I was not looking stereotypically trucker-ey. It was weird. Then I said “My friends car broke down and I’m going to rescue her. AAANND I almost hit a bear.” Mullet Girl was like” Wow you just made my night! Awesome!”. Glad I made someones night.

Carried on through to Lytton. Picked up a random stranded girl I knew whose car broke down and headed home.

Monday was particularly Anticlimactic after a day like Sunday. Except that I made an Apple pie Pizza and that was a good Idea!

Bear
I think the bear looked like this.

What a Life

Not one single thing I planned on today happened. I was going to get up and have a leisurely morning, go for a run with Morgan, eat a salad for lunch, kiss Morgan good bye and help him make his lunch for work, play Lego Star Wars while Em slept if Coco could come over, eat a quick dinner and pick up a babysitter for Emily, Go to a consecration night at the church followed by worship practice and then when Emily was in bed and the babysitter was home I’d blog. I am now apologizing for the horrendous run on sentence. Mr. Ebbison, my English teacher, would be appalled. At least it’s spell checked, ok?

Here is what I did do. This time I’m apologizing in advance for my run on sentence.
I overslept, missing a phone call from Lana telling me to come to the drop in lunch at the resource center, I decided to go because I hadn’t seen Lana in a long time, remembering that Emily could go in the play room now because she is old enough I got her ready in a rush and headed out the door. After about 4 minuted in the play room Emily Freaked out because of the noise and then that was the end of my info session. I played in the playroom with Em for another 15 minutes before she really freaked out and demanded I let her eat crayons. Since I ate crayons as a kid I decided I wanted better things for Emily and we went home. Because Em hadn’t been up very long she wasn’t impressed with an early nap, but there was no way she was staying up either so off to bed with you! I enjoyed a pizza for lunch and woke Emily up for a “Lift the Lip” appointment with a dentist that Lana so graciously shared with me.

Emily did amazing with the dentist. She cried for a second while her mouth got the checking, but otherwise she was just super excited to hold a giant tooth brush. We got super points for being awesome parents and doing all the correct dental things for Em. My Extra Mom would be so Proud. Ill have to tell her. The Lady was so impressed with Emily and her routine that she gave me a sticker. Well Em didn’t want it so I got an Ernie sticker and a glow in the dark toothbrush. Can one really brush adequately in the dark? I doubt it. We didn’t even get a fluoride treatment. Touchy subject I know, but I would have got the treatment done if the lady had recommended it. She didn’t because Em doesn’t have a bottle to go to bed or a bottle at all actually. She doesn’t drink juice ever or snack all day. She gets her teeth brushed at least once a day, but we are working on twice. She doesn’t breast feed in the middle of the night. AND she can say “Bwush ya teeth!”. She even said it to the Lady. Tooth 5 is in ad 6 is almost through. Praise the Lord!

Then I went for a walk with Kris and Lana, looked around a toy store and bought Emily her very first Robert Munsch Book. I plan on her having the whole set of Robert Munsch books because I loved them so much as a kid. I bought her my all time favorite one. The Paper Bag Princess. I love it. I think Ill make her read it over and over and over again. Then we got blizzards. I felt sick after a few bites, but ate the whole thing anyways. Whats wrong with me? Chocolate is evil. Then we visited Kim. Emily proceeded to eat rocks and dirt and scrape her knees twice. We have got to get a yard for her to play in. Then maybe she wont be such a monkey outside. Then we saw Karen and Brian’s new house. They are from our prenatal group. I expected Em to have a big melt down by this point, but she managed to play nicely with Promise and Rain. A couple of handfuls of dog food ingested later and we walked home for an early dinner.

Spending the rest of the evening freaking out was really fun. I was supposed to be at church, but things didn’t work out with a babysitter and I didn’t want to dump Em on anyone else last minute. Good thing too because she was, in her words “Gwumpy girl”.
Now it’s the end of a very long day and I’m trying to unwind.I’m going to do a Thursday Thirteen just for fun and probably read a book until Morgan gets off work. Gnight. Oh and I Edited Emily’s Page.

Forgotten Toaster

I have bangs. its weird. I think I’m liking it tho. we’ll see. I’m going to cut the back a bit shorter too I think. I think that will work out just nicely. I’ve been reminiscing with Leesh about camp. Its been fun looking at old old pictures and trying to remember why things were the way they were. I was missing my short hair again. I think thats why the sudden “lets cut my hair movement” has occurred. Maybe its just that I miss being impulsive. I think I’ve become dreadfully boring and predictable. Being a mom must have done this to me. It’s not that I wan black hair and punk clothes again, but I guess I’m just stuck in a predictable rut again. Ok maybe I just cant explain it.

Ok, who leaves toast in the toaster? I guess it was either forgotten or somehow offensive or something, but there it was just sitting there. popped up, cooked and everything. Also a weird happening for my day, thank you Morgan.

Emily has been being a whiner all day today. I think she’s growing and teething this week. She sleeps alot more and the whining doesn’t end. She’s still saying NO to everything. Either that or “cookie”. Who teaches her these things?? I have to know. Haha. She is currently quite frustrated with nothing and getting into trouble. Its soo much fun. Thats the signal for me to go spend more time with her.

My evening was stupendous. I thought it was going to majorly suck, but no way jose. I started this morning by getting my blood taken. For the record…not prego. I am just feeling good so we are getting some base level blood work done so the next time I get sick we will have something to compare it too. I had to wait an hour in the waiting room. That did suck. I was doing a fasting blood sugar test and well. grrrr I was hungry. Then I had a music practice which went pretty good. Im back in the band which is fun, but I don’t really have a specific instrument to play, so I just play whatever is missing. That makes it harder to practice thats for sure.

Then Morgan went to work, but Kipp and Georgia came over for a few and we had a nice visit. After they went home Em had a nice meltdown complete with hitting kicking screaming and a glasses smash. owch. Then Georgia phoned a few minutes later to say I should come over for dinner. hooray. Something to do while Morgan is gone and Em is a BUTT. So then We went to let Emmy play with Flynney for the evening. They did so good together. Em kept saying “Finney” and making Flynn follow her around. it was cute. There may have been an incident involving Ems head getting stuck in a door and Flynn pushing it closed, but aside from trying to decapitate his little girlfriend the evening was a success. We made Mexican food. Cream cheese stuffed jalapeños. HOT HOT. soo good, but so hot. I was downing Soy milk to de-burnify my mouth. It was awesome. Georgia gave the kiddys each a revel for desert. Mega bad idea to give em chocolate on a stick thats melting. It was pretty much everywhere, but Em loves her Auntie Go Go. We watched Napoleon for a bit and then I had to bring Em home to beddy by.

Now I’m just relaxing and enjoying the silence. I have a book to read or a new T.V. series to watch so I’m gonna take er easy. gnight moon.(its supposed to turn blood red at 2 am tonight. trying to decide if I should get up.hmm)

The Rule of getting Wet.

Today we took our friends Nathan and Danielle to our quaint little restaurant Nanna’s and Poppa’s. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch and Em wasn’t overly bad. This has become a crappy phase. The whole “NO NO NO NO NO” thing is getting old. Even if she wants something she says no. It like having to use reverse psychology constantly. Today she grabbed Morgans arm while he was turning on the ipod dock. She knows she isn’t supposed to touch it, so she grabbed his arm firmly and said “NO HANDS!”. Soo cute. We had her infant development lady come and watch her play this week. Its neat because you get to see where she is at for her age. Because she is a preemie they keep checking on her. This weeks conclusion:?? Emily is ahead in everything!! Yay! We were pretty sure she is ahead in her speech, but figured she’d be behind in her motor skills or something, but nope. The only thing is that with her being ahead we hit the 2 year old stage much faster I guess. The Lady warned me about that. Im sooo excited.

We decided to go for a walk around Sepa lake today and dragged our Nathan and Danielle with us. It was a gorgeous day. We walked around to the bridge and found it closed for repairs. They have redone all the 108 lake trail bridges. Soo nice. Anyways. We decided to keep on walking maybe to the beach or something. Halfway to the beach Emily decided she was walking and that was final. She walked a long ways. She even stopped to pick up some dried up bear poop much to her mommy’s “EW. Gross!!!” factor. At the beach we stopped for a swing. It was so nice so we kept talking and walking. Half way between the beach and my parents house Em did her business and so we took a detour to steal diapers from my parents house. By that point it was too far to go back the other way so we kept right on walking. I used to ride my bike around the lake all the time, but I haven’t for years so it was really nice to be out there again.

We have this funny thing that says “Pretty much any time Courtenay is near water she will get wet. It doesn’t even matter what time of year it is”. If you know me for very long you will find out that is true. I figured I was doing good by avoiding the lake and not even walking on the beach. WRONG. We got back to Sepa lake and as we were walking around it to where we parked we noticed it was getting really cloudy. Then it started to mist us. It felt nice because we had just done a 6 or 7K walk. But then is went rapidly from spitting at us to raining to pouring, to dumping and by the time we made it into the parking lot hailing! how crazy is that. It was a gorgeous day. I guess its my fault for not just tripping and falling in the lake. Sorry guys for getting you all wet. Haha.
