The Quest for the Night Market

Will we never find the night market? Almost evertime we come down to Richmond we go looking for the magical “night market”. Morgan’s cousins told us about it. It’s supposed to be this cool market that is run after dark somewhere in Richmond. Several times we’ve gone out looking for it only to return with a belly full of Gelato and no misc crap from the night market. Sad. Today we took our first proactive step towards finding it. I looked it up online. They have there own website and everything. richmondnightmarket.com. Turns out they are right behind Ikea. Easy to find. Ha. We’ll go tonight, but wait…they are only open weekends. We aren’t ever here on weekends. grr figures! oh well it remains out of reach but fo now!

Emily is yelling in the background. Nanny has taken over bath time while we are here. Fine with me thats for sure. Bath time isnt always the most enjoyable expiriance with Em. Especially because she is usually pretty tired by the time we get home to give her her bath. Overtired baby in bath means much screaming and a soaked mommy.

I’m finding the idea of Parenting more and more daunting as Emily gets older. I want so much for her. I want her to have such a good childhood like I did. Its hard not to want to be selfish though and want to do life as usual too. I’m learning to find that balance between adult life and mommy life. It’s quite the challenge. How does one carry on with previous commitments and still maintain a schedule and order with a kid? I dont know. One day at a time I guess. Thats all I’ll get for now. Sometimes I miss the freedom immensly.

Tonight at dinner everyine ran out of the house and got in the car. Gramma even had the door locked. There I was still inside trying to rush around packing a diaper bag and hoping my hair doesnt look like a tornado went off. If someone could just catch that it would be nice once in a while to have a second for me to not look like a shmoe that would be awesome. Getting two people ready take extra time, maybe not double time, but at least more time. Im quick too. I can’t imagine if I was one of those people who won’t leave the house without doing their makeup. I’d die. Or I’d end of being one of those people who everyone is frustrated with because they take so long doing their makeup that they are constantly late for everything. Thats who I’d be.  Lucky my family hey? No slow poke am I.

Tellular Cellephone

She ate Cat food. What on earth? Who eats cat food. She’s eaten dog food before too. well at least she’s not picky. I ate hotdogs, peanut butter and jam sandwiches and beef barley soup until I was…well old. Yesterday it got really quite and there she was shovelling cat food into her mouth. Quite enjoying it too. And not the dry kind either. The nasty wet smells-like butt kind. icky icky.

I got a new cell phone. well I got 2 new ones acctually. I bought this super cute orange one with the super TXTing buttons, but the next day it kindof died so I took it back and upgraded to the next one up the list. So now I have the batmobile. I think thats the only way to describe the way it looks. Its awesome. It has a nicer screen than the first one too. It’s pretty…in a batman kind of way. I already txt faster with it. Plus taking pix is fun. Out other cell isnt a camera phone. They didnt even make camera phones when I used to sell them. They had only become digital . We still could sell analog phones. Like those russian mini phones. The brick ones. Ok well even those were old when we started selling phones. I had people ask for them though. Old people still want huge phones that feel like house phones with huge anntenna’s and massive buttons. Young people want to be able to build a phone into your ear and not touch anything to make it work.Im just happy I have my own cell phone again. I got rid of mine about when we got married and Morgan got rid of his soon after. We were just always together so didnt really need to phone anyone anyways. but now we are all over and I txt my friends and my sister more. so Im totally like my new phone. Plus morgan and I dont always share technology well. We’re working on it. haha
Grr. The pictures arent working on here. I guess you’ll have to wait until next week.

Teeth are Mean

Ahhh I hate teething. Emily’s top 2 teeth are finally coming through. I thought they broke through yesterday, but alas not quite. I can see them both now though. We had a rotten day yesterday. First she got up stupid early and wanted to play and scream at the same time. Then at nap time she wouldnt sleep at all. She just screamed for like 3-4 hours. I just held her in the dark in her room(yes she has her own room at Grandpa and Nanny’s house…silly huh?). It was painful. It was better because she went to bed early and Morgan and I went to the theatre.

We saw Pirates 3. My review is still undecided at this point. I think I liked it, but I’m not sure. It was a fair bit darker and less plucky comic relief than normal. It’s the silliness that I like. Well that and the swash buckling. There were a couple parts that got kinda creepy for my taste. AND it was really long. They had tons of story to tell in the small amount of time. I liked it over all I think. I guess I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to pirates. Swordfighting, treasure, sailing, batten down the hatches, hoist the mainsail…that kind of stuff. Too much CGI kind of gets on my nerves. I think thats why I like to read so much. My mind can do a way better job of making mythical or weird creatures look better. My mind has special effects built in. haha. So yes I liked it.

Whelp we are going out for lunch without my darling toddler so that will be super. Nanny is going to watch her while Morgan and I run a few arrends and get some lunch. Wish me luck in conning Morgan into Gelato!!!mmm I can taste it now.

I Quit the Bean.

Well its working. I’ve been kicking my own butt. I lost the extra I gained and a couple more too. Grand total = 8 pounds until shopping spree. YAY! I find my new scale really encouraging. even knowing I lost .02 is encouraging to me. It really helps that we are starting to get into fresh fruit season. There is not much better than a juicy nectarine or some uber sweet pineapple. Ive been eating salads and fruit like they are going out of style.

AND I quit drinking coffee. a whole week know and I don’t really miss it. I’ve been drinking lots of tea and trying to switch back and forth between rooibos, green and earl grey when I want a nice cuppah. I’ve become the master of iced rooibos tea. Thanks Pluckymama! And no more pop for me either. I think thats making a big difference too. Pop = junk food. Water = healthy food. Simple math right. Its way easier to eat good without adding those into my diet.

I learned to make gyoza dumplings(kinda like wantons without the soup) at the community kitchen. They are awesome. I only ate 3 cause they aren’t diet awesome, but I made a whole bunch for Morgan and he loved them. I just keep adding to my repertoire of Asian cooking. I love the community Kitchen. It rocks my sox.

We thought Emily had chicken pox this week. She got all spotty and grumpy and scratchy and…well mostly grumpy. We took her to the Dr. and she said it was most likely a virus that was giving her a rash. YAY! lucky us. I was figuring it would be our luck to be the 1 in 100000000 parents whose baby after getting the chicken pox shot would get the chicken pox. I guess it wouldn’t be too bad because we all had it growing up. At least she wouldn’t remember it.

This morning Em woke up at 5 and cried for a bit and then again at 7. I finally got her up at 7:30. I was not impressed with my tiny tot for waking up so early. She even went to bed late last night. She normally sleeps until 9:30. Looks like we are in for another schedule change. seriously…every time I think I figure her out it changes again. That’s the way it works I guess. I’m hoping to keep her schedule a bit later still. That will work the best with our schedule. Plus I don’t want to give up my gym time before she gets up. Its way harder to go if she’s up. It will work out ok I’m sure.

mk
Hot guy sitting on the beach with a diaper bag. Do I know how to pick em or what?

Kick my own butt.

I’m feeling like a bit of a defeatist today. I’m trying to figure out whose will power I was borrowing for the first two months of the kick my butt weight loss thing. Cause obviously I had to take it back. I’m doing ok, but Id really like to keep kicking my butt. Now is when I cross the line from doing ok, to doing awesome. Something Morgan said that I’m trying to keep in mind “This part of your race will only be won by self talk”. I’m finding this part of the journey the hardest. I keep wishing someone else would do this for me. Like when you are at the theatre in the best part of the movie and suddenly you have to pee really really bad. Thats when you wish someone else would go for you. Ok so back to motto one.”I have to do what I should do before I do what I want to do.” Motto two. “My body is not a trash can.” I need to stop treating my body like my tastes buds are the rulers and only they matter.  There. I think I just needed a little pep talk. Maybe I ll print some awful pictures of me and stick them on the fridge so I can see how far I’ve come.

I don’t like to record what I eat. I find it tiresome, but I think I need to start doing that again. I had a free version of FitDay online and I used to use that, but then I bought the more advanced version, and it was way more work to keep it updated. Maybe Ill start the freebie again. Recording what I eat keeps me oh-so-accountable to eating great. I don’t like to write down bad stuff so I don’t eat it. Alright enough “maybes”. I’m just gonna get my act together.

Starting now! Emily is waking up so I’m going to go make her a superb dinner and then I’m going to remember that I deserve a superb dinner too and make it! AND I’m going to drink a butt load of water! AND we are gonna go for a walk! so there.

No pics today. First day without em. Cant be too predictable.

The Search for EIEIEI

I’ve decided to go back to type blogging, rather than just talking it. I’m not sure why, but I like typing it better. Plus then when I say things mumbled it doesn’t thing I say “Royal bus” when I mean rooibos. Yesterday someone found my blog by typing in “the search for EIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEI”. That made me chuckle. Ha Ha. *Chuckle*. Ha Ha.

Emily got her first haircut yesterday. It looks so cute. Its like a little bob. Sooo cute. Ill go find the camera. I think Morgan took a picture or two while we were at the salon. I was trying to wait until my sister could come up to cut it, but I couldn’t wait any longer. It was getting in her eyes and really bugging her. I guess Roxy will have to do “cut 2″. If Em’s hair is anything like mine there will be plenty of cuts needed.

Cut 2
This is Diane. She cut Emmy’s hair.
cut 1

Elisha got in last night and we stayed up late talking and laughing and stuff. It was fun. She wanted to do a Detox and since its way easier to do stuff like that with 2 people…looks like I’m doing on too. Its pretty much just veggies and oodles of water. I think I’m going to try to make iced rooibos again since that has loads of antoxidants in it. We’ll see how it goes. I guess I’ll find out how much my body will miss caffeine. I just like the stuff too darn much. mmm. Its gonna be hard to miss my morning coffee. I’m surviving so far today. we’ll see.

Yesterday I stopped on the side of the road in the 108 and honked at these people walking. I took a chance that they were who I thought they were. AND… It was Jennie and Terry. So I gave them a ride to the restaurant and Jennie chewed on Emily’s pudgy hand. It was nice to see them even for a few minutes. I’ll bet they thought I was some psycho, honking at them on the road. I guess that doesn’t rule out psycho.

Kick the ball!

I stayed up way too late last night. I was actually working on my story. I even made it into the next chapter. Who knows maybe I’ll finish my book yet. It’s not like it’s supposed to be long or something, it’s a children’s book. I’m pretty excited about it.

Emily made me so proud yesterday. I put her soccer ball on the floor and said “kick the ball”. She dribbled it all the way across the room. Way to make your momma proud! What 14-month-old baby can kick a soccer ball like that. Mine! Next I’m going to teach her to play the drums. She’ll be the only 16-month-old, who can play in 4 4 time. That will be fun.

All I want to drink today is iced rooibos tea. The last time I made it, it sucked. I need Leah’s help. She makes it the best ever. Or I can just figure out how to make my own London frosts. HMM. Maybe I should do that.

I spent about half an hour on the telus website looking for a good ring tone for my text messaging. I couldn’t find anything I liked. All I wanted was one that went beep. Just something plain. Not some crazy song or some comedian saying something stupid. Just a beep. How hard is that. Seriously. For an Internet seller, their website is the slowest on the planet. I gave up. The stupid thing just ticked me off. Fine. I’ll stick with my cheesy ring tone.

I’ve been drawing again. I’m still not that great, but I’m enjoying it so much. I see these pictures in my head and want to get them down on paper. I guess it’s okay with me that they don’t always come out as cool as they are in my head. At least it gives me something to aspire to. I found my sketchbook and my pencil kit so I’m good to go.

Elisha know will be here today so I better go get stuff ready. Fun fun.

First Step
My grandma figured out how to get pictures offer camera, so she just sent me this picture of Emily’s first step. I always thought it would be cool to actually get a picture of her first step. And we did. So maybe a few months late to put it on my blog, but it is what it is.

Mr. Mr. and Lady Lady!

Apparently Morgan isn’t talking to me. Something about putting Hal Johnson on my blog. Haha. I guess it offended him. well you know. I always get offended by guys in track suits too. Ill have to cut him some slack.

I had to call 911 last night. I went to a friends house after youth for a little going away party. While I was driving home I got cut off by some psycho who decided to go 60 on the highway. Then they were swerving all over the highway, cutting corners and slamming there brakes at nothing. It was pretty scary. While I was talking to the 911 lady the car signaled and pulled into the other lane across a double yellow line and then swerved back to miss a semi. It was freaky. The 911 lady was like “can you get closer and get the license plate”? I was like “no way”! but then I did cause psycho slammed his brakes again and went really slow for a few minutes. It was really weird. I don’t like phoning 911, but I had to cause buddy was either gonna kill someone else or himself.

Morgan got my a Beatles album that I love to pieces. Its called “Back n the U.S.”. We used to have the DVD of that concert and I’ve always loved the music from it. Im so excited to listen to it on my new iPod dock. Its gonna rule!

Ive been making better food for Emily again. It gets easier as it gets into summer and the fruit and veggies are nicer again. I picked up a baby food book at the library, after paying Morgans small mortgage in late fees. It says to blender everything, but its just giving me good ideas pre-blendering. I like getting to be more creative with her food. She will pretty much eat anything. Her favy right now is kiwi puree and cherry puree in her oatmeal. Not at the same time tho. Each mixed with banana. I started adding Bran to her Power oatmeal too. She loves it. Once in a while I forget one of the Power-Three (wheat germ, ground flax or bran) and she doesn’t like it as much.

I’m cooking Mexican again. I made my own corn tortillas from meseca flour. MMM. We got a press so they even looked cute. Simply amazing with Salsa. Well pretty much anything is amazing with salsa.

Daddy is putting Emmy down for a nap so I’d better go clean some stuff before Auntie Georgia and Flynndiana Jones come over.

Lindsay and Olin
To Lindsay and Olin! I will miss you muchly. Good Luck on the Sunshine Coast!

Goal-pdate

Croc-xperiment day 2.

Crocs

I cut it close to wearing my crocs out in public today. They are just so darn convenient to slip on if you have a baby/diaper bag/purse/anything in your arms. We’ll see how this goes.

Ok and on to Goals…dun dun dahh.

Body Break

Goal 1: “Keep fit and have fun” (thank you and Hal Johnson & Joanne Mcloed…dang now I’m going to have the body break song stuck in my head). The last 2 weeks have been somewhat disastrous in the eat good department. I think if it hadn’t been for a series of unplanned exercises Id be…well larger. I had my first real gain since I started in January. Added a nice 5 pounds back on. Grr stupid ice cream. but I’m back to normal life, whatever that is and back to the gym. I got a new scale that is digital and reads to .02 of a pound. Its encouraging because you can tell if you even loose .02. I loathe the scale at the gym its so inaccurate. If you stand on it funny it reads screwy.

Jesus Fish
Goal 2. Growing in my relationship with God. Being a real god chaser. I just got back from a steady stream of conferences. Sometimes those moments are real thrive and dive things. This year it really felt like a solid upward movement. I had some really awesome words spoken over my life. All really consistent too. The words “adventure” and “artist” kept coming up. All from different people. It was a cool thing for me. I had shelved a few thing to work on other things and so now I’m back in the groove.

organizing
Goal 3. Get organized in 2007. My oh-so-thoughtful-in-law’s got me these awesome hangers and shelving units. They have revolutionized my closet space. Its awesome. We switched from the drawer system to the hanger system and I’m loving it. Its working out rather well. Morgan and I are even sharing(miracle) one dresser for sox and skivvies too. Its super. Next we have to work on the basement because Morgan was being helpful while I was away and reorganized stuff into the walkway. Thanks hunny.

It's Done!

Its done It’s done! We’ll at precisely 2:36am in the morning I turned off my computer monitor and headed to bed. The movie was finished. I’m pretty happy with it too. Believe it or not I’m actually excited to do more video editing. Especially now that I have some more knowledge of Premiere. I’m not sure, but prolly the best part about last night was playing on Jakes computer and making all kinds of stuff. I made a comic book at 1:30 in the morning. All that means is that I think is awesome and no one else will. Or at least they wont think its funny. I put it up at kaspers.ca so you can try your luck at my late night humor if you wish. I’m going to try and have the Video up today too. I have to format it different for Web though so it wont be so big.

Emily has had a super long nap today. YAY! that was perfect timing because after a late night last night I really need to have a nap too. She is going to be so hungry when she wakes up and I just realized that I have not eggs for a quick scram. Hmm. I’ll have to think of something else to make. I made quinoa (keen-wa) For her last night and she seemed to like it alright. She didn’t love it, but I can work with that. Her daddy’s spicy pasta brings joy to her teeny heart. I think thats all Em wants right now. She’s still content with power oatmeal in the Morning but need something more substantial than regular baby food the rest of the day. So now aside from a bottle of formula at bedtime we don’t buy any baby food. I had been buying it for when she goes to the sitters, but she hates the stuff and I don’t blame her. It’s bland and kinda yucky. So I’ll just have to get more creative with on the go meals. ooo Planning ahead

Speaking of planning ahead. I don’t know what night yet, but we are having meatloaf. I decided yesterday I seriously wanted meat loaf. I’m getting excited just thinking about it. Maybe Ill have my parents over. They like my meatloaf. Wow now I’m hungry.
