Am I Boring…

I totally wanted to blog yesterday, but the call of the sleep hit me harder and I went to bed. Normally I get a chance to blog in the morning or during nap time, but niether worked out well for yesterday. It`s a good thing too because yesterday I would have spent the whole blog telling you how nuts Emily had been all day. All the LONG day. I might as well have fed her a bowl of sugar.Wooo crazy child. Today she`s still acting her age, but I`m not looking up postage prices on sending a 32 lb parcel to Siberia…if you catch my drift.
My Mom and I went for a walk at Lunch time yesterday. It was so beautiful out. I made Emily walk as much as she would to wear her out. We walked all the way around Sepa Lake mudhole. *whoa, my keyboard switched into french on its own. odd ééé. * I`ll have to figure that out laker, but for now I guess I can`t use slashes and the apostrophe( which I just learned is a verb in french aswell) is weird too. Where was I… Ah the lake. The water is down so far that the 2 lakes don`t even come closr to connecting anymore. Its kinda sad. Speaking of lakes…I get to go Kayaking tomorrow!!
A friend from church is taking me! I think we`re going to Canim Lake. When I worked at Lake of the Trees, someone donated a Kayak, but I had to duct tape part of it and it just went in circles, so I don`t call that Kayaking. I even subscribed to a Kayaking magazine for a while. I wish I trusted myself enough to take my camera with me, but theres no way I`m taking it out with me. Morgan has this saying that goes something like `Courtenay can`t go near water without getting wet`. It`s true. I think I`m like a labrador that`s poorly trained. I just can`t help myself. My goal for tomorrow is to get my feet wet, but nothing else unless everyone gets wet. We`ll see how I do.
Its going to be a long day away from Avery and Emily. I`ve been away from Em before, but I`ve only left Aves for a couple hours at a time. Tomorrow I`ll be gone from 10 til dinner time, so most of the day. I`m sure Daddy and his girls will be just fine. I`m really happy to have a me day.
I used to do alot of crazy things and then I got married and had kids, and now I`m downright boring. A couple weeks ago a friend asked me what my hobbies were. I wan`t to say all my old hobbies: snowboarding, rock climbing, skateboarding(Im banned from skateboarding by MK, but thats another story), Mountain biking and all sorts of other crazy stuff, but I couldn`t say those things since I hadn`t done any of them in forever. So I ended up saying reading and blogging or something. I always said I would love to be one of those crazy skydiving grammas, but who knows, maybe I`ll end up one of those knitting gramas who enjoys bridge. So I`m excited to do one of the kind of fun things I used to do before I became boring.

The good thing is that I like boring. I`ve learned some really cool cooking and baking recipes. I`m learning to sew, so I can make reusable diaper wipes. I love blogging and practicing my writing. Maybe one day I`ll finish my short story. I love reading and getting into a good book. I`m enjoying learning to parent my girls and be a good Mom. I like hanging out with Morgan and a cup of coffee. Sometimes I do miss being spontanious and never going anywhere without my guitar, but I`ve replaced each of the things I loved to do with something that is of greater value. I could snowboard all winter on weekends, but I spend Sunday at church growing closer to the Lord, playing the drums and spending time with church family. I could rock climb all over this beautiful province (I still hope to climb some places), but I`d rather be helping Emily collect cool rocks in the yard. I could mountain bike all over the gorgeous Cariboo, but I`d rather be tickling Aves to get a smile or a coo out of her. I could be wild and crazy, but I think I`d rather be boring.

Nudists in December (cold buns)

I think I’m raising a nudist…
For the last 2 days Emily has spun into a crazy tantrum if I don’t let her take all her clothes off. I’m trying to be open about it because she appears to want to potty train. So she takes all her clothes off then sits on the potty for 2 seconds and then wants to run around naked. It’s cute so I let her and she runs back and forth to the potty not peeing in it. Then she gets bored of the potty, which she insists must sit directly in front of the Christmas tree. (Nothing like peeing with good scenery). Now picture this huge fight to put a diaper on again. I’m not against potty training, but I am against nudists peeing on my carpet. We get the clothes on…she takes them off again. We put them on again, she gets distracted for 10 minutes…then off they come again…Ahhhh. For serious I don’t think I’d mind so much, but its December. Who has time for nudists in December? Who wants to be a nudist in December?? It’s getting old to say the least.
My mom was my hero today! Yay Mom. She rescues me lots, but today was just one of those days. I played on the worship team at church and my mom held Em while I was on stage. Right after I took Em to the Nursery to play until Sunday School time. The second we got in there she started freaking out.”Teacher Karen!!!!!!!”(note: to save room I condensed the “!” ‘s to a minimum.) Teacher Karen is Em’s new favorite person. Who doesn’t love a class that always has food! We are trying to get Emily used to Sunday School early so she will have an easier transition. Anyways…So today I was just in the mom mode of “AHHHH” when my mom came to find me in the nursery. She asked if I wanted to let her take Em to Sunday school. one big loud “Hallelujah” later, I was calmly walking back to my seat at the front of the church as if I hadn’t been ready to pull all my hair out. My mom was such a life saver today!
A tradition I love is opening stockings. I love all the neat little things you get Christmas morning. It’s rather silly, but probably my favorite part is the orange in the toe of the stocking. I’m not sure why, but its tradition. We talked about tradition at church today. So yes I admit it’s a tradition AND I don’t know why. Still have the “Tradition” song in my head from “fiddler on the roof”.
I feel like my blog is a little disjointed today, or maybe I just have crappy segues, but thats a lil’ look see into my brain for today. Here’s to tomorrow!

Here is me right after snowboarding in the back yard!

Angel Party

Every year our church has this thing called Angel Party. Its for 2-5 year olds. Which basically translates into pandemonium! This year they made an exception for Emily(cause she’s so cute) and let her go even though she isn’t 2 yet. All the kids wear wings and a little halo. It’s pretty much just a good photo op. They tell stories and play games and do crafts. Emily did so good considering she can’t sit still ever and she got up almost 3 hours early to get there on time. At one point during the story she yelled out “I love baby Jesus!” it was so cute. Way to make your mommy proud. She didn’t do so good with the crafts. So Mostly I made them, but I’m excited for many more years of strangely ugly, yet adorable crafts Emily brings home at Christmas.
I remember one year at AWANA I made this little drum ornament out of a tuna can. We hot glued some plaid ribbon on it and some zig zag string and there was my first drum. It has long been one of my favorite ornaments to hang up at my parents. Also a reindeer I made out of Clothes peg, a stained glass candle we made in grade six, and this beaded candy cane that is oh so hideous.
Christmas is probably my favorite time of year. So I’m afraid you are going to get some good walk down memory lane stories out of me for the rest of December. Here is the first:
“When I was at Jesus school I cooked my first Christmas dinner. Turkey, Stuffing, brussel sprouts, you name it… I had to phone my mom because I had no Idea what to do with the turkey. All I remember from that conversation is “You want me to put my hand WHERE???”
We also spend alot of time making our own decorations for our tree. College students seldom have oodles of money to buy ornaments. So we spent forever making popcorn strings to wrap around our tree. At one point when we were almost done making the string, one of the guys in our house was actually doing his chores for a change and decided to vacuum. He started to get pretty close to our precious popcorn sting and about the time I said “Hey Clayton, not so close to our…” He sucked the whole thing into the vacuum. It made this loud bang and shot popcorn everywhere. I think we were laughing way to hard to be upset about it.”
*I decided to save my rant until tomorrow. And I updated Emily’s page too.*

Joy to the World
Mr. Mosby and My Sin.

We went out for a walk the other night. Emily was teething again and we needed to try and keep her up a bit longer without losing sanity. The fog had rolled in and the streetlight cast this warm glow all over town. It was quite picturesque really. When we first opened the door of our townhouse and pushed out the stroller, there, waiting for us was a kitty. He was definitely pretty young. Black, with a white belly and white gotee.Or whatever a cat chin beard is called. haha. We started walking and the kitty followed us. We thought it was pretty cute, but we were pretty sure he’d stop when we got to the edge of the the townhouse driveway. Nope. We had a little friend for our entire walk. After about a block we decided our kitty needed a name. We decided on Theodore Mosby. Named after the great Ted from How I Met Your Mother. And then in short order started just calling him Mosby. Now, Mosby wasnt your tipical cat. He walked right beside us, ran ahead a little to see what he could see and ran back. He would run up to a tree and crouch way down as if to jump up into it and the turn and keep walking with us as if to say ” I could climb that tree, but I won’t. I’d rather walk with you guys”. When we walked passed BJ’s Donuts Mosby jumped all the little chains in the walk way. Kindof like a little trained poodle.
Several times on our walk different people would walk by us and Mosby would stop to say hello. “Come on Mosby” I’d say. “How cute. Is that you cat?”. I’d just smile and laugh and say “Come on Mosby”. Because afterall…He’s not our cat. Mosby followed us all the way across town, which is not actually that far all things considered, but he still walked a long ways. As we walked up our driveway and walked passed the first block Mosby stoped and sat there watching us walk on as if to say “That was fun guys, we should do lunch next week. Your place”.
Thus ends my crazy story about a cat. As for the rest of my week, its been rather busy. I had another meeting with my Schooling Lady. I had to fill out the last forms before they got sent away. This is my favorite part.
Lady “I need to get you to sign these forms”
Me “Sure”
Lady “This one is so I can share your information and your sin”
Me “Uh…what??”
Me after a minute of looking really stooopid as I figure out she means Social Security Number. ”Oh. ok. Sure”
Well sorry if I hadnt ever had anyone ask if they could tell other people my sin. I think they’re going to need a really big list, thats for sure. haha. I think sometimes we should sign wavers like that. Maybe I’d be more aware of what I say and do if I knew someone was keeping a big list to tell other people. I mean, I know God knows all of it, but for some reason I think it would be harder for me if everyone else did. It should be the other way around. We’ve been reading alot lately in Mark about how Jesus Called Sin “Sin”. He didnt excuse it or Sugar coat it. But He also didnt just let it go he delt with it. I want my eyes to see just a bit more clearly. I miss so many things just because I’ve sugar coated them. grrr.
Then last night we went to Williams Lake with all the youth. We had a worship night at EFC that was awesome. I even got to paint. Then afterwards we went to the pool. It was called a Dive-In Theatre. Evan Almighty played on the big screen. We watched for a few minutes, but its hard to watch in the pool so we just swam. Coco and Shelby and I had super awsome fun jumping of the diving board and playing with Jakes underwater camera. Ill get those pics soon. They are funny. I either look like I’m 400 pounds or just like Im drowning. It was a fun night.
Damsel In Distress

I am getting so good at this whole rescue the damsel thing. I guess this one is technically my fault, but really no. On his way home from work last night at midnight, my darling husband ran out of gas. Lucky for him I had a friend over and could go and get him. It was funny. *SIDE NOTE – Freshmint gum and Pepsi tastes like yucky*
I’m most of the way through my school application. Here’s hoping that all goes well. I’ve been reading alot about the Speech Language Pathologist Assistant program and I find is crazy interesting. I’m hoping to start as soon as possible, but we’ll see. I’ve already missed the deadline for October, but if things go smooth , I could make it in for November. I don’t think I’d start until January otherwise. December is always so crazy. Cant believe I’m planning into December. I think I will do well with online schooling. I’m pretty good at self motivating. I’ll have to use my time better, but at this point I can do what I need to when I need to.
Roxy is moving home today!! I’m all excited. That kid can make me laugh…seriously. She starts her new jorb on the weekend. I think it will be neat for her to be around Emily more, because Em loves her “Auntie Roxy Pirate YAARRR!” so much. I have her picture on our fridge. Emily waves and says goo morning to it. Its cute. Its amazing how her little mind works.
We have a 24 hour worship thing on Saturday – Sunday. I’m looking forward to it. I was supposed to play for alot of it, but I think I’m only play a few hours now. I don’t think I could have lasted that long. haha. oops that reminds me I need to phone my babysitter and confirm stuff.
I put all my Loon like pix up on my Facebook. It just uploads better than WordPress and has unlimited space. Then I dont have to shrink the pics either. Here is a couple though for you.

Out on the Lake

Last year we took the same picture, but Emily was only a couple months old.

My week has been crazy. I find it hardest to find time to blog when Morgan works Afternoons. It should be easiest, but somehow it never is. I guess I just get busier on nights when Morgan is at work. I stay up later too because I always want to see him after he gets off work. This week should be better because Morgan is on Days! YAY! I love this shift compared to afternoons. MK’s shift regular shift goes back on in two weeks. I’m so excited for that. He doesn’t miss so much and Emily gets her daddy home all day!
We did it! Coco and I beat Lego Star Wars. NERDY I know, but its super awesome. There are still tons of secret things to find and stuff to do, but I loved it.
Nerdier still…I won my reading contest! I’m not sure how many people were in it. I think I’d feel awful silly if it was just me. Weirder things have happened before. I don’t know what I won yet, but I get to find out on the weekend. Yay! I am so nerdy, yet cool. haha.I want to know the total of the books I read. The contest was by pages though so no loop holes there. Couldn’t just read 100 kids books. I’m not sure why my mind works that way, but it does. Human nature I suppose.
K. Now to tell you about my grand adventure! It all started on a rainy Sunday morning. Last Sunday morning to be precise. I woke up with a lovely sinus cold and a cranky baby. Hold on!! you need to be picturing one of those old black and white movies with the detective in the office and the sweet trench coat and Indiana Jones hat. Ok. You tracking with me..
Where was I… ok. While hurriedly getting ready for church I got Morgan to get me a sinus pill from the Medicine Mirror.I took the handed pill and downed it in one fowl (foul) swoop(who makes these sayings??).By the time I got to church I noticed my head was feeling pretty fuzzy. I was having a hard time focusing on playing the drums. When the worship was over I went and sat down.
That was when it hit me! Pseudoephedrine!!!!! Morgan gave me one of his sinus pills. not mine. I’m allergic to Pseudoephedrine. It makes my brain all fuzzy and I cant think. If I take it at night I don’t sleep. Grrr. This just sets the tone for the rest of my day. Having to let the big P wears off, I felt dozy and fuzzy headed all day. We had a nice afternoon with friends and a relaxing evening. Whats so bad about that you say?
At precisely 8:36 pm we get a collect call from a damsel in distress. She’ll kill me for saying that, just so you know what happens if I never blog again. My friends car broke down in Lytton. A.K.A Middle of nowhere with a gas station. Names have been changed to protect the innocent. We’ll just call her Elisha. She’ll kill me for saying that, just so you know what happens if I never blog again.haha. By about 9:30, when all the Dtails were figured out, I headed out on my grand adventure.
Having planned on going to bed when I put Emily to bed, I was in need of caffeine! For the most part the drive was uneventful, but foggy and with low visibility. My Jetta cruises. I love that it has spunk. Instead of the Jet I would have named her Zippy, but its not cool to double name after dead vehicles. I realize sometimes I get going a little fast, so I looked down at my speedometer to check my speed for a millisecond and thats when it hit me!
Or just missed me. The hugest bear I’d ever seen! Come on I’m in a Volkswagen. All bears are big to VW’s. I missed hitting Winny the Pooh by about a foot. Once my heart stopped leaping around the car and I’d thanked Jesus multiple times, I decided to stop in Cache Creek and go pee. I didn’t think I could handle another scare like that and not just pee my pants. Picked up a couple of munchies at the gas station and stood in a lineup to pay. When I got up to the girl at the cache register I noticed something very peculiar about her. Her mullet looked like it wore her, not the other way around! Freaky!
Here is what she said to me.”Hi, Are you a female trucker?”. I was like “Um no”. I started looking at my clothes for stains or at my pile of junk food for tell tale trucker food. Nothing…I couldn’t figure it out. I was not looking stereotypically trucker-ey. It was weird. Then I said “My friends car broke down and I’m going to rescue her. AAANND I almost hit a bear.” Mullet Girl was like” Wow you just made my night! Awesome!”. Glad I made someones night.
Carried on through to Lytton. Picked up a random stranded girl I knew whose car broke down and headed home.
Monday was particularly Anticlimactic after a day like Sunday. Except that I made an Apple pie Pizza and that was a good Idea!

I think the bear looked like this.

Em is waking up so we’ll see how far we get on todays Bloggy.
Youth last night was good. We are working on some of the new songs. We didn’t actually play them though cause they need a bit more TLC. Plus who can instantly sound as good as delirious? Seriously? Next week we are takin it to the streets. Youth is in the A&W Parkinglot. Heres the story about it on CCLF’s page. 7pm everybody! I’m really looking forward to it. Some summers we do youth in the parking lot every week, but this summer we only get one shot. We just have a smaller crew this year during the summer.
Em is awake so Ill just post a couple pics from the weekend and maybe blog later.

Em already loves Golf. Well she loves hitting people with Golf clubs.

Em fell in Love with her cousins princess sandals.

Third World bathroom right in our country. Oh you are so lucky I did not have a camera with me. The place: Boston Bar. The Husky Station Bathroom! ICK! In Cuba you paid a dollar for a square of toilet paper, but even there the washrooms are nicer. I’ve used outhouses that haven’t even contained this smell. The Husky bathroom is an abomination! We decided to stop there because the gas station across the street makes you buy something to use it. Note: not such a big deal in light of the bathroom quality. If it hadn’t been for my baby wipes and purell in the car I was going to go across the street buy some stupid gum and rewash my hands. A lady took her little girl in there and I was trying to warn her.”Don’t do it.Is it really worth her life.” I’ll get over it. I might need shots, but I’ll get over it.
We had a great weekend in the Vancity. On Saturday we drove down and out trip was really good. Such a nice day and Em did good. Some of organs family from Calgary was out visiting too. I got to meet one of Morgans cousins for the first time. She and I hit it off right away. She has a little girl a bit younger than Emily and so they hit it off too. We left our kidlets with the grandmas and went the the finale of the celebration of light. I love fireworks. It was a great show. I felt like quite the tard though because I kept saying things like “Look Look.” And “Did you see that. Wow”. Like as if they weren’t watching. Riiight. Geek award right here please.
It was Nanny and E.K.’s birthday party on Sunday. We had such a nice time with all the family out. Emily loves playing with her cousins. At one point there were four little kiddos in the pool. It was fun to watch/stop the hitting. Haha. By the end of the night the lot of them were so tired. Em slept really good. She didnt sleep in, but thats ok with me. We had church anyways.
I got a couple of good Ideas at Grandmas church. I’m hoping some of them will work out for this fall. Might find myself doing some paining again here real soon. I’ve already roped Auntie Go Go into helping me. Em is waking up. I’ll try an attach some of the pics from the weekend on here later.

Emily had her first skinned knee today. I’ve been letting her walk about more when we are out and having her hold my hand. Today she tripped and skinned her knee. I was almost nothing and she didn’t even whine, but I felt bad for her. My shiner from the other day didn’t turn into anything. YAY! I was a bit worried I’d look like a battered wife. Since its all about the appearance anyways…haha.
We went to a wedding today. Em was a little rotter. She did great when we went out for lunch, but come wedding time, no such luck. We sat in the nursery while she whined and whined. Then we brought her home and she collapsed into bed. Poor tuckered out little goose. I’m feeling much the same today. I think we are going to try and get a babysitter and take the night off. Morgan and I have been just missing each other for the past week. We haven’t really got a chance to talk since before I left for Avalanche. So I’m looking forward to a night off.
I’m almost finished this movie I’m making for church tomorrow. Its pretty simple, but its the first movie Ive ever made in Premiere. I watched and helped Leesh make 2 movies and now I’m trying this one by myself. It has a couple of glitches, but Leesh is here right now so she can help me out if I get really stuck. Anyways. I need to go chill out. Maybe Ill go get myself a London Frost. MMM. Yeah thats what I want to do!
