Swimmin in Dare

“They Swimmin in dare?” That what Emily thinks of my snow globes. She thinks I have an entire nativity thats drowning. keen observation I might add. I would have never thought about it that way. I decorated more in my kitchen that in the living room so meal times are more of a show and tell than anything else. Em sits in her high chair and asks to look at everything on all the shelves. She especially loves “Baby Jesus, so cute, I love it, I have it, soft, mine”. Most people don’t pray much more than that to get saved. haha. More understanding is needed yet on that one. It’s neat because I bring her the ornament to look at, but she’s not allowed to touch it. It’s going to be a good thing to teach her now before she ends up like her daddy and needs to see everything in her hands. I am foreseeing shopping trips being easier in the future. Also she loves the Jingle bell dancing guys we got last Christmas. She makes me push the button about a million times during the meal. I’m going to have to go over and apologize to my neighbors for musically assaulting them. If you want to know what is a worse noise for your neighbors to wake up to read Leahs blog from today.

Emily’s favorite toy right now is a nativity scene puzzle that my Gramma sent for her to play with before Christmas. I think I may have already done it about 100 times. She loves to throw the pieces everywhere and then collect them one at a time and help me put them together. I thought the puzzle would be way to advanced for her, but she loves it and she’s not really that far off being able to do it. I’m going to have to get her some puzzles for Christmas.

I can’t decide what to get her for Christmas. There is so much to choose from for kids. I don’t just want to get her some misc toys. I want learning things and creativity things and books. I don’t really think all those “learning things” they sell in the store are really that helpful. I’m sure some of them are great, but seriously like a video game is really going to help a toddler. Emily doesn’t even watch T.V. ok well she does sometimes at a friends house, but it’s not part of her routine. We read books all day. I know I want to get her more books. Mostly so mommy doesn’t go crazy reading the same ones over and over. There is a newer series kinda like veggie tales that’s called Boz. You can get a whole pack of their board books for pretty reasonable. Or Robert Munsch books or Dr. Seuss. Or oodles of other things. Don’t get me started on Ebay. But would she even care…probably not. She has oodles of toys already. I wish we had a busier freecycle here. I would totally get more stuff from there for her and not spend a dime. Christmas is just one of those dilemmas hey. I just know I want to beat the statistic and not go into debt just so Christmas morning is fun.

I think my rants of late are mostly caused by emotional eating. haha. Emily is teething so bad right now she is making her momma crazy. If only we had some gypsies living near by. For the cutie she is Em has been so bad lately. It’s one of the hardest things I find as a parent to not respond in anger, but to discipline fairly and with mercy. I started a new thing this week and so far it’s working pretty good. Em has been royally grumpy lately and so for no reason she is being really whiny. I’m afraid this mommy doesn’t do so well with a whiner. So instead of giving her 500 time outs in a day just so she will calm down we started giving “quiet times”. I ask her is she needs a quite time and I take her hand and we choose a book and she sits in her little chair and reads to her self while looking at me and saying “Shhhhh”. She seems to calm down right away. I’m sure it wont work perfect every time, but I think it’s a good thing to start now and then when she gets older it will be good for her to have some down time and some peace and quite for mommy. It’s alot better than punishing her just because she’s in a bad mood. I started to write out how it made me feel but I decided it was too long for today so I’ll set it up for tomorrow. g’day.

Trucker Court

My week has been crazy. I find it hardest to find time to blog when Morgan works Afternoons. It should be easiest, but somehow it never is. I guess I just get busier on nights when Morgan is at work. I stay up later too because I always want to see him after he gets off work. This week should be better because Morgan is on Days! YAY! I love this shift compared to afternoons. MK’s shift regular shift goes back on in two weeks. I’m so excited for that. He doesn’t miss so much and Emily gets her daddy home all day!

We did it! Coco and I beat Lego Star Wars. NERDY I know, but its super awesome. There are still tons of secret things to find and stuff to do, but I loved it.

Nerdier still…I won my reading contest! I’m not sure how many people were in it. I think I’d feel awful silly if it was just me. Weirder things have happened before. I don’t know what I won yet, but I get to find out on the weekend. Yay! I am so nerdy, yet cool. haha.I want to know the total of the books I read. The contest was by pages though so no loop holes there. Couldn’t just read 100 kids books. I’m not sure why my mind works that way, but it does. Human nature I suppose.

K. Now to tell you about my grand adventure! It all started on a rainy Sunday morning. Last Sunday morning to be precise. I woke up with a lovely sinus cold and a cranky baby. Hold on!! you need to be picturing one of those old black and white movies with the detective in the office and the sweet trench coat and Indiana Jones hat. Ok. You tracking with me..

Where was I… ok. While hurriedly getting ready for church I got Morgan to get me a sinus pill from the Medicine Mirror.I took the handed pill and downed it in one fowl (foul) swoop(who makes these sayings??).By the time I got to church I noticed my head was feeling pretty fuzzy. I was having a hard time focusing on playing the drums. When the worship was over I went and sat down.

That was when it hit me! Pseudoephedrine!!!!! Morgan gave me one of his sinus pills. not mine. I’m allergic to Pseudoephedrine. It makes my brain all fuzzy and I cant think. If I take it at night I don’t sleep. Grrr. This just sets the tone for the rest of my day. Having to let the big P wears off, I felt dozy and fuzzy headed all day. We had a nice afternoon with friends and a relaxing evening. Whats so bad about that you say?

At precisely 8:36 pm we get a collect call from a damsel in distress. She’ll kill me for saying that, just so you know what happens if I never blog again. My friends car broke down in Lytton. A.K.A Middle of nowhere with a gas station. Names have been changed to protect the innocent. We’ll just call her Elisha. She’ll kill me for saying that, just so you know what happens if I never blog again.haha. By about 9:30, when all the Dtails were figured out, I headed out on my grand adventure.

Having planned on going to bed when I put Emily to bed, I was in need of caffeine! For the most part the drive was uneventful, but foggy and with low visibility. My Jetta cruises. I love that it has spunk. Instead of the Jet I would have named her Zippy, but its not cool to double name after dead vehicles. I realize sometimes I get going a little fast, so I looked down at my speedometer to check my speed for a millisecond and thats when it hit me!

Or just missed me. The hugest bear I’d ever seen! Come on I’m in a Volkswagen. All bears are big to VW’s. I missed hitting Winny the Pooh by about a foot. Once my heart stopped leaping around the car and I’d thanked Jesus multiple times, I decided to stop in Cache Creek and go pee. I didn’t think I could handle another scare like that and not just pee my pants. Picked up a couple of munchies at the gas station and stood in a lineup to pay. When I got up to the girl at the cache register I noticed something very peculiar about her. Her mullet looked like it wore her, not the other way around! Freaky!

Here is what she said to me.”Hi, Are you a female trucker?”. I was like “Um no”. I started looking at my clothes for stains or at my pile of junk food for tell tale trucker food. Nothing…I couldn’t figure it out. I was not looking stereotypically trucker-ey. It was weird. Then I said “My friends car broke down and I’m going to rescue her. AAANND I almost hit a bear.” Mullet Girl was like” Wow you just made my night! Awesome!”. Glad I made someones night.

Carried on through to Lytton. Picked up a random stranded girl I knew whose car broke down and headed home.

Monday was particularly Anticlimactic after a day like Sunday. Except that I made an Apple pie Pizza and that was a good Idea!

Bear
I think the bear looked like this.

Butt Fly and the Slander Party

I actually feel like blogging today. I haven’t had alot of time to lately. I posted the other two posts cause they made me laugh so hard. Most of the videos are so such crappy quality that youtube will probably laugh at me for posting them, but I might anyways.Heres the Snowboarding one.

The title is one of the funnier parts of my week. We looked after Elijah and Janaya on Saturday. They are 1.5 and 4 yrs. That was the day Emily learned her first 3 syllable word.”Butt Fly”. So what if she turned it into a two syllable word. it cracked me up. She says it better already. I’m a bit sad that she does. Her second 3 syllable word was “cheerio”. The while playing all day Janaya played with Emily’s little phone and was pretending to talk to her friend Asia. Lucky for Janaya because she got invited to Asia’s “Slander Party”. I looked over at Morgan and said “I’ve been to some of those, they’re awful”. We are still laughing about it and thinking of throwing our own “Slander Party”.

You haven’t lived until you’ve had a Diaper explode in the washing machine. How it got there I’ll never know, but what I do know is that I had to re-wash everything and pick up a “butt load” of the jelly diaper stuff. I’m just glad it wasn’t a poopy. icky icky icky.

I’ve started running with Morgan. I was going to do the podcast for running about 3 months ago, but that never happened. I’ve been waiting to blog about it unlit I actually made it into the second week of running every second day. The podcast has techno music to run too and a guy that tells you when to run and when to walk, so you don’t have to look at your watch. its called from the couch to 5K in 9 weeks. We are on week 2 which means we run for 9 minutes already. In intervals of 1minute and 30 seconds with a walk in between. It sounds easy, but when the guys says lets speed back up for the 5th time, you want to kill him or at least make him wax his legs or something. I’ve been walking everyday too. A couple of times I’ve finished my walk and gone straight into the creek.

We walk and run with Emily in the jogging stroller. She loves the running, but sometimes gets bored with the walking. She sings to herself while we are doing “The Loop” around town. Man we would love to be back at the “8″. Running the lakes would be so much more fun. I want to get one of those behind your bike style baby carts. I think you can get them cheaper at a MEC gear swap. I’m hoping we can pick one up soon because I love to ride my bike.

I’m getting my wedding ring and engagement rings soldered together this week. I talked to my jeweler and they think its a good idea to do. The two rings rubbing together can make them wear down really fast. I’m not sure I’ll like them that way, but here’s hoping. She said she didn’t recommend I get that done if I only wore my wedding band to work or something, but I always wear both. I guess I could see it if I wore rubber gloves all day or something like that. My engagement ring would be to sticky outey for that. I can pick up my rings tomorrow. I feel nakey without them on.

Em is waking up. I think we’ll walk down to the library and check the mail. The Library has cardboard books for Em so I think we’ll pick some new ones up today. Oh and Em got some new Robeez today. They are so cute(brown w/hearts). She changed sizes again. We picked some new ones from the catalogue (white trainers)and they’ll be here next month.

Kick the ball!

I stayed up way too late last night. I was actually working on my story. I even made it into the next chapter. Who knows maybe I’ll finish my book yet. It’s not like it’s supposed to be long or something, it’s a children’s book. I’m pretty excited about it.

Emily made me so proud yesterday. I put her soccer ball on the floor and said “kick the ball”. She dribbled it all the way across the room. Way to make your momma proud! What 14-month-old baby can kick a soccer ball like that. Mine! Next I’m going to teach her to play the drums. She’ll be the only 16-month-old, who can play in 4 4 time. That will be fun.

All I want to drink today is iced rooibos tea. The last time I made it, it sucked. I need Leah’s help. She makes it the best ever. Or I can just figure out how to make my own London frosts. HMM. Maybe I should do that.

I spent about half an hour on the telus website looking for a good ring tone for my text messaging. I couldn’t find anything I liked. All I wanted was one that went beep. Just something plain. Not some crazy song or some comedian saying something stupid. Just a beep. How hard is that. Seriously. For an Internet seller, their website is the slowest on the planet. I gave up. The stupid thing just ticked me off. Fine. I’ll stick with my cheesy ring tone.

I’ve been drawing again. I’m still not that great, but I’m enjoying it so much. I see these pictures in my head and want to get them down on paper. I guess it’s okay with me that they don’t always come out as cool as they are in my head. At least it gives me something to aspire to. I found my sketchbook and my pencil kit so I’m good to go.

Elisha know will be here today so I better go get stuff ready. Fun fun.

First Step
My grandma figured out how to get pictures offer camera, so she just sent me this picture of Emily’s first step. I always thought it would be cool to actually get a picture of her first step. And we did. So maybe a few months late to put it on my blog, but it is what it is.

Hooray for Fibre!

I’m feeling all nostalgic today. Well actually it’s only because I didn’t do laundry so I’m wearing my t-shirt from our high school Cuba trip. Its the brightest shirt I own so I look like a homing beacon, but I’m ok with that.

I haven’t got to Blog in the last couple of days. Things have been busier than normal. My life has undergone a very big change. No I’m not pregnant!!(why does everyone think that? and whats with people all having dreams that I am??)
We got a new car!!! YAY!. Freedom. It the prettiest lil silver Jetta. My Father-in-Law was so excited to bring it up and surprise us that he drove all night and slept in the car. I walked right by him sleeping in the car and got in my truck to go to church. It was so funny. Morgan and I are currently working on a name for the car and as of yet we haven’t even decided if its male or female. I’ll let you know whenever I do.

Emily is having a nap so I get a few minutes to myself. I’m glowing still because my friend Georgia moved back to 100 mile. She was living in Saskatchewan for a long time. Her son Flynn and Emily are supposed to be the same age, but do to Emily’s impatience well…hes younger by a month. I’m excited to have another little friend for Emily to play with. Another little boy…goodness all boys. Just like Mommy I guess.

This week I’m on the quest for amazing healthy Toddler food. I have a few things that rock, but I want better Ideas. I saw this awesome book at the library, but we owe them money for late fees so that’ll have to wait. I wish they took interac. I never can remember to carry cash when I think about going to the library. I’ve been searching online for good Ideas, but my idea of healthy and other people’s idea of healthy are very different. I don’t think a toddlers favorite food should be kraft dinner. I don’t think it should be anyones favy. We don’t even buy it anymore. YAY! I love the stuff, but thats no reason to eat crap all the time. I think I’d like to get a pressure cooker to can some baby soups and lentils and stuff. Right now Emily loves beans. Hooray for fibre!!

Way Back Machine

You have to check out the Way Back Machine. so cool. It caches web pages from forever ago. I found quickdot and my old web page. Morgan was looking up CNN’s page from September 11. Its pretty cool and man my old page was ugly!

We are going road trippin again today. It’s my Gramma birthday so we are going to Loon Lake. I’m stoked. Morgan has to work so thats sucky. I’m going to take some more cute pics today. It looks to be another gorgeous day for picture taking.

I’ve been “camping out” in psalm 119 for the last few days. I’ve been really enjoying the things I’m learning. My favorite part so far is in verse 107 where it says “…the willing praises of my mouth.” Its cool because very often its easy to praise God because its a good idea or because you should, but not always in the “…the willing praises of my mouth.” I don’t know I just found it intriguing.

Yesterday I was complaining about not getting to do enough cardio at my new gym so Morgan suggested I run to the gym, only a few blocks from here. So I did yesterday. I ran for 5 minutes and then walked for 3 and I was there. It felt great. I walked back because I wanted to listen to a podcast and podcasts aren’t good workout tunes. I think I’m going to try to run at least a couple days a week. It’s a good run too because It’s totally uphill. Nothing like being good and sweaty.

Well I have to get Emily up and get ready for Loon Lake. So I’d best not dawdle.

Pirate Party and a Dedication

It was like the twelve days of Christmas at our house for the past couple of days. Emily got spoiled rotten. It was such a beautiful day today too. I made it through my preach and the youth service and Emily’s dedication and we just had a great time. I doubt there will be many weekends as packed and wonderful as this weekend. I feel like I’m all glowey inside.

I got home this afternoon and Emily and I both had 2 hr naps. Just a couple of very exhausted girls. After Em got up we went for a walk around town with Gamgee-doggie and with Emily in her new MEC backpack. It was so great. the other backpack we had borrowed wasn’t very good and Emily always shifted her weight around funny so this one is such a great change.

I’m currently enjoying some spinach dip and waiting for Emily to fall asleep and then I’m going to read and go to bed. I finished book 5 of my series last night so I’m kinda excited to start book 6. The series is called The Russians. Its cool because I studied Russia in history class, but this puts a good perspective on turn of the century Russia. Yesterday I heard on the news that there have been political protests in Russia and it made more sense to me than normal. It was cool until I found out uncle Greg got arrested just for being at one of the protests. Well ok I doubt he’s my uncle, but his last name is kasperov. cool huh. He is a world famous chess player. Oh good she fell asleep.
