Our old computer is fixed!!!Yay. We ordered a mother board off Ebay and the little sucker did the trick. Plus the memory we ordered for our computer works too, so now we have a way faster computer. It will probably mostly be my computer for school. I thought we lost alot of pictures too, but because it works again we only lost maybe 1 folder of pics. So Im super excited about that. AND Morgan and I don’t have to share computer time. Not the end of the world, but nice all the same. It’s good for 2 nerds 2 have 2 computers.
I’ve become addicted to POM Tea. I love it. Its quite light and refreshing. Its got loads of antioxidants in it too so it’s good for you. AND it’s only 60 calories, which is pretty good for juice. I save the glasses for Georgia because we have way too many cups already. I am currently sip sip sipping away while blogging twice in one day. Hooray for inspiration.
It was Roxy’s Birthday yesterday. Emily says “happy birthday you auntie roxy!” Its cute. She’s singing the song alot. We played a bit of a joke on my sister. We wanted to get her a new cell phone, but we couldn’t just get one because of th plan she is already on. so we made gift certificates for her. But instead of giving her those we gave her my old phone in it’s box. All the manuals we still wrapped in plastic and the cords were wrapped up all nice. We only used it for a couple months because it was so crappy. The reception sucked and it would echo while you talked. Basically she thought we had got her a new phone that was a piece of junk. It was really funny. she was like “Ohhh a phone!” She tried really hard to be excited about it, but we all ended up laughing at her. Way to be grateful for junk Roxy! Happy Birthday dude. Way to not be a teenager anymore! You’re doing great!

Third World bathroom right in our country. Oh you are so lucky I did not have a camera with me. The place: Boston Bar. The Husky Station Bathroom! ICK! In Cuba you paid a dollar for a square of toilet paper, but even there the washrooms are nicer. I’ve used outhouses that haven’t even contained this smell. The Husky bathroom is an abomination! We decided to stop there because the gas station across the street makes you buy something to use it. Note: not such a big deal in light of the bathroom quality. If it hadn’t been for my baby wipes and purell in the car I was going to go across the street buy some stupid gum and rewash my hands. A lady took her little girl in there and I was trying to warn her.”Don’t do it.Is it really worth her life.” I’ll get over it. I might need shots, but I’ll get over it.
We had a great weekend in the Vancity. On Saturday we drove down and out trip was really good. Such a nice day and Em did good. Some of organs family from Calgary was out visiting too. I got to meet one of Morgans cousins for the first time. She and I hit it off right away. She has a little girl a bit younger than Emily and so they hit it off too. We left our kidlets with the grandmas and went the the finale of the celebration of light. I love fireworks. It was a great show. I felt like quite the tard though because I kept saying things like “Look Look.” And “Did you see that. Wow”. Like as if they weren’t watching. Riiight. Geek award right here please.
It was Nanny and E.K.’s birthday party on Sunday. We had such a nice time with all the family out. Emily loves playing with her cousins. At one point there were four little kiddos in the pool. It was fun to watch/stop the hitting. Haha. By the end of the night the lot of them were so tired. Em slept really good. She didnt sleep in, but thats ok with me. We had church anyways.
I got a couple of good Ideas at Grandmas church. I’m hoping some of them will work out for this fall. Might find myself doing some paining again here real soon. I’ve already roped Auntie Go Go into helping me. Em is waking up. I’ll try an attach some of the pics from the weekend on here later.
"Croc-xperiment"

I feel like Ive taken a blog sabbatical. Ok so now I’m back. I have hardly even been at home in the last two weeks. Between Avalanche and the Streams conference Ive been gone way to much. It was good, but I am really happy to be home. hopefully I don’t verbally puke all the latest stuff on you.
Ok…Game plan. I’m going to leave my goal update until later today or tomorrow. That way I can talk about fun stuff and Emily. Ok blue forty two…hut hut hike!
Firstly my gorgeous little daughter has a new gorgeous little boy to bully. His name is Issac Gordon and he was born last week to one of my bestest buddies. Go see his picture cause he is adorable. And click this pic too. Way to go Leah!
I was only gone a couple of days this weekend, but Emily learned like three new words while I was gone AND decided it was ok to wear hats. Yay my mom! So now she can also say hat, hot and out(because she is always being told “get out of there turkey”). I wonder what new ones she’ll learn this week. I think Ill have to update the Emily Page and put in an Emictionary.
While we were in Kelowna we got Emily a baby doll. At the beach last week she loved playing with Jada’s baby doll. She loves it. Its so cute cause she walks around holding it and hugging it and giving it huge kisses (something she is now very good at). We also got her a couple of hats and books and a bunch of new bigger non-plastic melt-in-the-dryer bibs.
I’m doing a “Croc-xperiment”. I got a pair of rip-off brad crocs. Those sandals everyone and their cat are wearing.( I looked, but I couldn’t find a picture of a cat in crocs sandals). So my experiment is to see if they are as comfy as everyone says they are. Or to find out if there is any reason to be wearing them in public. We say this lady walking down a hill in Kelowna wearing Crocs and walking with 2 hiking poles. Like was she hiking to Alaska or what? It was weird. So far I’m finding them fairly comfortable. I also got a pair of .33cent flip flops or thongs (as we always called them). so Ill trade back and forth and let you know the conclusion. My hypothesis is that both pairs of sandals will be equally comfortable and that I will end up wearing my crocs out in public by accident.
Well I have oodles more to blog, but I’ll get to that. Slow and steady wins the race.
Way Back Machine

You have to check out the Way Back Machine. so cool. It caches web pages from forever ago. I found quickdot and my old web page. Morgan was looking up CNN’s page from September 11. Its pretty cool and man my old page was ugly!
We are going road trippin again today. It’s my Gramma birthday so we are going to Loon Lake. I’m stoked. Morgan has to work so thats sucky. I’m going to take some more cute pics today. It looks to be another gorgeous day for picture taking.
I’ve been “camping out” in psalm 119 for the last few days. I’ve been really enjoying the things I’m learning. My favorite part so far is in verse 107 where it says “…the willing praises of my mouth.” Its cool because very often its easy to praise God because its a good idea or because you should, but not always in the “…the willing praises of my mouth.” I don’t know I just found it intriguing.
Yesterday I was complaining about not getting to do enough cardio at my new gym so Morgan suggested I run to the gym, only a few blocks from here. So I did yesterday. I ran for 5 minutes and then walked for 3 and I was there. It felt great. I walked back because I wanted to listen to a podcast and podcasts aren’t good workout tunes. I think I’m going to try to run at least a couple days a week. It’s a good run too because It’s totally uphill. Nothing like being good and sweaty.
Well I have to get Emily up and get ready for Loon Lake. So I’d best not dawdle.
Pirate Party and a Dedication

It was like the twelve days of Christmas at our house for the past couple of days. Emily got spoiled rotten. It was such a beautiful day today too. I made it through my preach and the youth service and Emily’s dedication and we just had a great time. I doubt there will be many weekends as packed and wonderful as this weekend. I feel like I’m all glowey inside.
I got home this afternoon and Emily and I both had 2 hr naps. Just a couple of very exhausted girls. After Em got up we went for a walk around town with Gamgee-doggie and with Emily in her new MEC backpack. It was so great. the other backpack we had borrowed wasn’t very good and Emily always shifted her weight around funny so this one is such a great change.
I’m currently enjoying some spinach dip and waiting for Emily to fall asleep and then I’m going to read and go to bed. I finished book 5 of my series last night so I’m kinda excited to start book 6. The series is called The Russians. Its cool because I studied Russia in history class, but this puts a good perspective on turn of the century Russia. Yesterday I heard on the news that there have been political protests in Russia and it made more sense to me than normal. It was cool until I found out uncle Greg got arrested just for being at one of the protests. Well ok I doubt he’s my uncle, but his last name is kasperov. cool huh. He is a world famous chess player. Oh good she fell asleep.

Let the Festivities Begin

Tonight is Emily’s First birthday party. Tomorrow is her party for all her little friends, but tonight is for Family. Lots of the fam will be here. Sunday is her actual birthday, but we are super busy then too. I’m in the middle of making another cake. The first one turned out good, but the bottom ripped a bit so I’m making another one and trying a new method of pan greasing. I’ve finally settled on which cake I’m going to make, but I wont describe it Ill just take a picture when it done and you can see for yourself.
Man I have a headache today. I’ve realized there is a reason I get a headache every Friday. Morgan has to nap in the afternoon so he only makes decaf coffee. Its the stinking caffeine thats doing this to me. I didn’t think It really effected me, but obviously it does. I’m like an addict coming down off a high. well sort of, in some weird sort of way.
Ive been overwhelmed with all the stuff I needed to get done for this weekend. From Emily’s birthday to the youth service and everything in between. I’m feeling pretty good about it right now tho. I find that once things start to roll I’m not stressey any more I just go with it. Its weird for me to be stressey at all because I never used to be. I wonder what made the change over for me. hmm.
- Well I might not get 8 minutes to write much in the next couple of day, but we’ll see. Check out this cake…
I Think Out Loud…I Think?

I think my mind must feel something like processed meat does. I was at a conference on the weekend and I’m away again this weekend at another conference. I’m starting to feel like my world is whirring by like one of those crappy apple rides at the Fair. I’m having a really hard time processing all this information. I know I learned so much, but now what? I’m going to have to think of creative ways to use all of my knowledge.
Ive discovered that I think out loud. I have some friends that think out loud so much you cant really hold a conversation with them especially if you think out loud too because theres alot of talking going on. I think its worse for Morgan cause he thinks better when no ones talking and so a outside thinker and an inside thinker cant both think at the same time. Ive decided that part of the problem I’m having processing all my info is that there aren’t enough hours in the day to think that much out loud. Good thing I ordered the MP3’s and they’ll be here soon.
Emily took her fist three steps last week. It was the night before I left for the NWCEC conference. My grandparents were there and they even caught a picture of her in mid-first-step. I’m waiting until they email me the pic and then Ill post it. Today she took 6 steps by herself. She was trying to catch auntie Gracie-dog.
Well I’m off to join the circus. Ill be back next week. I’m really looking forward so some semblance of normalcy next week. I haven’t seen Lindsay and Olin or Lana and Gabe for ever and Its Gabe’s 1st birthday next week. I’m going to have to get my act together for the week after because Its Emily Birthday too. I’m going to bake a sweet action cake!

Last night at Timmy’s Roxy *very loudly* says so everyone can hear “Happy 30th Birthday Courtenay”. These people at the other table are all like “oh thats nice its her 30th birthday”, but its not! I’m only 24 today. So there. I had a sweet Birthday, minus being sick and Emily being a total butt head. We are both still sick and it sucks. Speaking of sucks…
During My oh-so-great birthday dinner at my parents, I was taking a sip of my float while my mom was taking a picture, but it took her forever to take the picture and so as smart as I am I replied with this extremely witty line ” I cant suck forever”. That was followed with immediate looks of shock and absolutely no need for a joke having done all I needed to burn myself.
Today I braved my fear of the word perm and got one. All I said to the lady was “Don’t make me look like a poodle”. I spent the next 3 and a half hours being permed and “voila”. I’m a poodle. Ok its not really that bad. I actually like it. Its going to take some getting used to, but I really do like it. All it took was a clip and I was looking a bit more like me again.
I braved another fear and signed up for Curves today. I start tomorrow at 8 am. I think I am excited. I wasn’t so sure, but today I tried some of their machines and thought they were ok. I did an initial weigh in and am so stoked. Only 17 lbs until I get a big huge shopping spree. I’m 177lbs today!!
My Dad got me a special treat for my birthday. A round of IRN-BRU’’s for everyone. This little shop in town sells them. That made for an extra special birthday. Thanks Dad
