I’m having an awesome day. The youth got a new sound board for Morgan to play with and Emily’s car seat came in today so we both had stuff to figure out. It took me forever to figure out how to adjust the car seat to actually fit Em. I love it tho. Its great colours and it even has a cup holder/cappuccino machine. Emily likes the new seat so much better already. Her legs aren’t all smashed up against the back seat. She still has to be rear facing until she gets a bit bigger, but this seat is definitely more comfy for her.
Emily hardly crawls anymore. She is getting so good at walking she doesn’t like to crawl. Its cute. She can even pick something off the ground without falling. Last night she tried to run. I just about died. It was so funny. She ran for about 3 feet then did a nice big head dive. Got a bit ahead of herself.
She is saying so much more now too. I didn’t realize it because lots of her words just sound like sounds. If you say “what noise does a doggie make?” she says “oof oof”. And she make car sounds and sheep sounds. She still says “uh oh” to everything and “ah da” for all done. “ma ma” is still reserved for whining only and she sings songs all day about her “da da”. Its really cute. She know at lots of signs too.
I did the most motherly thing Ive ever done for Emily yesterday. I made her scrambled eggs. I couldn’t bring myself to try them, but she liked them so they must have been ok. I made them again for my mom today to try so I’d know if they were ok. Morgan thinks it’d be funny if I started liking eggs because I’m going to have to make them for Emily. I doubt it.
I wrote a song today. I haven’t wrote a song in quite a while. It kind of came to me fast too. I was pretty excited. I guess I didn’t really write it. The psalmist wrote it in psalm 119. I think we might even sing it at church. I recorded it at the church before worship practice, but the recording doesn’t have the drums mic’d so I’m not putting it up here. Anyways. I’m just having fun with my electric guitar.
I’m feeling all nostalgic today. Well actually it’s only because I didn’t do laundry so I’m wearing my t-shirt from our high school Cuba trip. Its the brightest shirt I own so I look like a homing beacon, but I’m ok with that.
I haven’t got to Blog in the last couple of days. Things have been busier than normal. My life has undergone a very big change. No I’m not pregnant!!(why does everyone think that? and whats with people all having dreams that I am??)
We got a new car!!! YAY!. Freedom. It the prettiest lil silver Jetta. My Father-in-Law was so excited to bring it up and surprise us that he drove all night and slept in the car. I walked right by him sleeping in the car and got in my truck to go to church. It was so funny. Morgan and I are currently working on a name for the car and as of yet we haven’t even decided if its male or female. I’ll let you know whenever I do.
Emily is having a nap so I get a few minutes to myself. I’m glowing still because my friend Georgia moved back to 100 mile. She was living in Saskatchewan for a long time. Her son Flynn and Emily are supposed to be the same age, but do to Emily’s impatience well…hes younger by a month. I’m excited to have another little friend for Emily to play with. Another little boy…goodness all boys. Just like Mommy I guess.
This week I’m on the quest for amazing healthy Toddler food. I have a few things that rock, but I want better Ideas. I saw this awesome book at the library, but we owe them money for late fees so that’ll have to wait. I wish they took interac. I never can remember to carry cash when I think about going to the library. I’ve been searching online for good Ideas, but my idea of healthy and other people’s idea of healthy are very different. I don’t think a toddlers favorite food should be kraft dinner. I don’t think it should be anyones favy. We don’t even buy it anymore. YAY! I love the stuff, but thats no reason to eat crap all the time. I think I’d like to get a pressure cooker to can some baby soups and lentils and stuff. Right now Emily loves beans. Hooray for fibre!!
It finally happened. Emily had a UFO(un-food object) in her mouth. She was rather enjoying the crunch and munch when much to her dismay mommy’s finger was shoved in her mouth to remove said UFO. and well…theres no good way to say this. It was poop. I have no idea how she got it, but she had her own crap in her mouth. So now when ever anyone says something tastes like crap…well we can ask Emily if it does. I gagged.
After the crappy ordeal, we headed out on our road trip. It was the most gorgeous day. Its been so cold and windy here lately, but it was absolutely gorgeous out. We decided to go to Marble Canyon because I had never been there before. We stopped for lunch at some rinky dink little restaurant in Clinton. It was called the Cordial Cafe. The first thing our waitress said to us was “I have to apologize for our service. I’m a crappy waitress.”Then when I asked for a glass of water she said.” Do you want bottled water because the town water looks like someone tinkled in it and didn’t flush”. It was awesome. We stopped at this little antique store and wandered through. I found a tortilla press for 2 dollars so I bought it because Ive wanted one forever and they are like 40 bucks new. Such a good find I think.
When we got to marble canyon we drove right past it. It just looked like bluffs on the side of the road. There was this little pull off and thats it. We drove around for a bit and found this spot my Dad remembered where there was a pictograph. It was really neat. We hiked a bit and took lots of pictures. It was Emily’s first real day to play outside. Last summer she was to small to do pretty much anything, but lay on the grass. She wanted to walk everywhere. We let her sit in this big grassy hillside and play. She loved it.
We saw some people rock climbing up by the cliff face so we decided to go up and have a little look see. My eyes are downright liars. They made the hill look like a stroll. We were extreme hiking for a bit. I had Emily in the Backpack so I was good and weighted down. When we got to the top we started talking to some climbers and there was this guy there who new Dad from the high school. Then around the corner comes Mr. Meville. My high school shop teacher. Ok so this gets weirder still. While my parents were in Arizona last week so was Mr. Meville. Only they were riding Harleys and he had a convertible. And now here we are way the heck out in the middle of no where climbing up a mountain and here he is again. It was just plain weird.
Well over all we had an awesome day and I think we took some good pictures too.

Gotta love Freecycle. If you aren’t a freecycl-er you need to become one. Ill admit, 100 Miles freecycle group isn’t very big yet, but its getting better. Its this group set out of Yahoo, where you offer things you have to give away for free. Ive got a fee boxes of baby clothes and other cool stuff too. Today I replied to a lady and lent her some maternity clothes. Its nice to be able to help each other out free of cost. If I never see the clothes again…well at least I wont have them in my house forever.
I’m slowly making the transition to all my own food for Emily. I found this cool book at the library that gives alot of good recipes for making baby food.I didn’t sign the book out tho cause I had late fees and no moneys with me. I’m going to go back tomorrow and get it. I think we are pretty close to using all our own food. Ill be glad to see the end of the jars. They aren’t exactly cheap either. I really like to know what I’m feeding Emily. I’m skeptical of jarred food.
I made it to the gym this morning!Yay. Ive been sick and then busy and then a day or two of lazy so I hadn’t been in a while. I was pretty happy because altho I hadn’t been eating amazing I did still lose a couple of pounds over the weekend. 12 to go until goal 4. I’m excited that all my hard work is paying off. I think it even convinced my mom to join the gym too. Total since Jan 1st 35lbs. Total since Christmas 42lbs!!um…yay me.

We used our China. See I knew having it in a good spot would mean we would us it. Thats what getting organized will do. It wasn’t exactly a China kind of dinner, but the place setting looked faboo. We just made some Tacos. I am loving this whole Mexican themed week. Mmm.
Today my friend Lindsay and I took each other out for lunch for our birthdays. We were going to go to Paninos, but it was full so we went to The Moose instead. I had a London Fog. I could rave forever about the wonderfulness of the London Fog. Its a steamed milk with a shot of Vanilla and Earl Grey Tea. Its like goodness in a cup. Ive started ordering my London Fog with Skim Milk and Sugar Free Vanilla just to make a bit healthier choice. I’m not the biggest fan of Splenda products, but once in a while I don’t mind. It makes a big difference in the sugar content of my Latte.
Emily had breakfast for the first time today. I hadn’t needed to give her breakfast before because she always has a bottle. The last few days she hasn’t really wanted a bottle in the morning or at bedtime. She wont drink much of it. She still seemed kinda hungry today so I made her some Power Oatmeal(See recipe). She ate loads of it. It was neat.I’d like to keep moving away from Formula. Soon She can have Goats milk. Not only will it save us a fortune, I think It’ll be better as just a drink than a meal for Em. I’m looking forward to the change all right.

First Week back at school and we are reevaluating EVERYTHING! Kindergarten needs to be fun, so we are taking ourselves less seriously and playing more. This is one of our favorite Games: Kids of Catan. Gotta start em young!

Homeschooling in the winter is super cozy. We spend as much of our day as we can curled up with a good book, or sitting at the table, looking out the sliding doors at the snowy wonderland. We’ve been trying to get outside when the sun is shining, but this is the biggest problem we [...]

I did it. I dropped of the face of the blogosphere for more than a month because I took on the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) challenge. The challenge was to write a 50,000 word novel start to finish in the month of November. You can’t finish something you started already. It needs to be a fiction [...]
