Puppy Love Easter

Do you think Gracie and Eddy like Easter?

Cause I’m thinking not so much…

Um…What?

Whats wrong with this picture?

The fact that my Dog is sitting on the dishwasher door?

The fact that I don’t remember opening the door?

The fact that I didn’t make her get off, but I went and got my camera?

All of the above?

God told me to sit in a Mud Puddle

I can’t exactly blog this week because I don’t have a computer, but I felt it was important to note that this morning Emily said “God told me to sit in a mud puddle!” We are pretty sure it was from her Sunday school class, but who knows. That kid is seriously random! Ok well I think that’s all I have time for. Talk to ya later. Oh here are my students blogs, so check them out and leave comments! They need encouragement blogging!

I’m not even sure I know where to begin. This whole blog thing started out as an 8 minute’s a day journey into journaling. hmm Journey Journal. I like that. For the last couple weeks I’ve been making myself work really hard at getting things done, and left behind all the things I felt like doing. The worst part is that I think my kitchen is still a mess and my laundry still needs doing. Its pathetic really. Part of the problem is that I’ve been juggling computers and finally have myself set all comfortable on the computer at work, but this computer at home is all a mess again. I don’t do well with mess. I’m too AR for that. Anyways enough lamenting my time losses lets get down to business. ooo where to start.

Emily has a new little cousin! Morgans Cousin’s Chris and EK had a beautiful Baby Boy. I can hardly contain myself in waiting to hear what his name is. Soo cant wait for a serious snuggle. Congrats and way to go EK!

Emily’s still having a hard time with mosquito bites going all crazy and swelling up. Im not sure what we are going to do about that, but I’m doing some research to see if there is anything else we can give her. Last week she got bit on the eyelid and here eye swelled shut. It was ok, so I left her with a babysitter for a few hours, but it got much worse, and even though we were out of cell range our babysitter called Hiedi and they took Em to the hospital. Again! Poor little duck. I think she’s developing a taste for benedryl. She keeps asking for it now. She cringes when she takes it, but for some reason she bucks up and just takes the stuff. I wish the child chewables were enough for her to take.

The last few weeks has proved to have some VERY interesting conversations with Emily. Heres a few for you, so you get the idea.

This one was in church. She was siting in between Mitchell(12) and his cousin Vasti(3).

Vasti: I sit by Mitchell?
Emily: (puts her hand on Vashti’s shoulder) “Im Emily, and he’s mine.”

Scary for a mother I know. haha.

This one proves she’s been at daycare a bit too much. When asked her name Emily responded: “Emily Grace Payette.”

We went to Loon lake last weekend. It was soooo relaxing for me. I got to hang out with my gramma, who is seriously kicking Cancer’s big fat butt! And spend some time with Poppa. We went swimming and played cards. It was really nice to just relax for a while. Plus it was beautiful at the lake. I even Suntanned, which I never do because I dont want to look like old leather, and I dont really have time ever. Plus I burn like a lobster normally. I think I had one of those moments that continues to happen to me. My mom kindly pointed out that I had something on the corner of my mouth. “Food?” I asked, wiping one side of my mouth. “Other side” my mom said. So I licked it. What she failed to mention was that, not only, was the”something” on the otherside of my mouth, it was also a bug! So I licked it. ewwwww. But, lucky for me, I got to make My Mom and my sister cry laughing late at night.  How Special.

Emily and Poppa, Getting a life jacket for the boat.

En route to the boat with daddy.

My big girl. 2 and 1/4 years old.

She wants to put ponies in daddys hair.

Morgan went to Kamloops today and brought me home a present. Firstly, I love presents!! Its a Magic Bullet!!! I’ve wanted one forever! I love them oodles, but its all together rather frivolous because I have a great blender already. The thing is, that the magic bullet is so compact and fantastic. So I made everyone smoothies after dinner. They were yummy x 10! But then, what happened. My daughter who is pretty stinkin close to being totally potty trained has to pee. So morgan takes her to the potty and she does her business and gets a treat. Then I decide I’d better at least get the dish washer on, and start doing dishes. I forget that my smoothie is waiting for me. Calling my name even. Well apparently I offened it, becuase when I reached over top of it to get something, it leaped of the counter and…well…let’s just say it was an instant replay of the time I dook the mixing beaters out of the shortbread while still on high speed. EVERYWHERE! I died laughing right there. Morgan thought I did it on purpose, but then he realized it was just as funny as I thought it was. mmm blueberry walls.

oops I just realized that I don’t think I cleaned it off those paintings. haha.

This week has been an up and down week for me. The last couple actually. Camp SumMore Fun VBS, was sooo fun, Prepping for Tekskool is really fun too, but in the middle of all of that I had a memorial to go to.

My friend from High School Jamie passed away from Cancer. It was really sad. I was really sad. There have been a number of young people who have passed away in the last couple years, but I haven’t known any of them as well as I knew Jamie. we were percussionists together. We were in sports together. We had classes together and we even worked together in the mall when I worked for my dad, he worked a few stores down. Jamie was a really great guy. When he was 14 he started coming to youth. He had cancer in his eye and so we were praying for him alot. The cancer took his eye, and Jamie stopped coming to youth. It was really hard to have a prayer answered no. Then when the cancer came back earlier this year, I was praying again. I was really unsure why that would happen again to such a great guy.  I know the right answers to those kinds of questions, but its still hard to hear. The best part of Jamie’s story was that the pastor who did Jamies service said that he spent time with Jamie in the month before he died, and he was 100% confident that Jamie was able to re-connect with God and get things straight before he went home.

I have many more stories to share with you, but tonight I think I leave it at that. Laters Jamie, We’ll see you in the blink of an eye. Luv-a-bud Perc.

You'd better watch this.

I WON!!!!!! YAY!!!!! I love to win at stuff! Thanks for making such an awesome bag Leah!! If you missed the point of this, read this first, then this.Happy Happy!

Well I’ve had quite the busy week. Tuesday was La St. Jean Baptiste Day. Quebec’s 400th anniversary. So Coco had a party and made some delicious traditional Quebec dishes. She made Pate chinois (chinese patties). It’s like shepherds pie, but with corn, and much tastier. I had the first meat I’d had since March. I was sooo not going to miss out on French cuisine. Plus Coco is a supremely awesome cook. Then we had two desserts. Puddding Chomeur and Sugar Pie. They were so fantastic I could barely handle it. Bon St. Jean!

Emily has learned to do somersaults this week. It’s cool because she just decided she needed to learn it and so she did. I thought she was a bit young to learn how to do them properly, but shes really good already. She’s not very good at watching where she somersaults to. she faces the coffee table, or a wall and tries to flip. There have been a few ouch’s of late.

Our conversations have been getting funnier by the day too. At breakfast on Tuesday she shoved he mouth full of mini wheat’s and said. “I’m going to beat you like a drum, I’m going to beat you like a heart” I just about died right there on the spot. Who taught her that one. SOO Funny!   she still insists that shes going to be Dr. Phil when she grows up too. Yesterday Morgan “did a fluffy” and Emily grinned and said “can I check it”? I guess thats what we say to her cause a fluffy is sometimes a poopy. It was priceless!

To continue with the “Courtenay does or says stupid things in public” Saga, this week we went for lunch with Russ Rosen and Graham ord and their band on their way back from the Northern Combine Tour.  Pastor Rick and Marci came too and Dustin and Coco. So I was telling Rick about this book a friends was reading and he asked me what it was called. This is what I said : “Does it really Matter!” Everyone looked at me. I quickly thought back to the words that had come out of my mouth and as fast as my face turned red I said ” NO! The book is called “does it really matter”!!!! AHH. Thats not waht I meant!!. Infront of my friends and some pro musicians, I mouthed off to the pastor and my boss. Great. Brilliant. Way to be so cool court. Duh!It was really funny. Even more funny than the week before whn I poured raspberry vinagrette on my pancakes instead of syrup. Who puts Vinigrette next to whip cream anyways?? Just as a side note, that also happened at lunch with Pastor Rick and Marci. I think I’m begining to look like quite the dork. Oh well, better they know that now I guess. haha. Surprisingly, those weren’t infront of Roxy, who normally see’s all those things. Crazy I know.

History Maker 2008

Well then. Ahh. I am home form a crazy weekend we like to call HistoryMaker!!! It was a good weekend in chilliwack. Super hot though. Not complaining because it rained here all last week. So where to begin weaving together my tale of suspense…

The Jet. It began like any other may long weekend. Preparing for Youth trip to who knows where. Cleaning out cars and trucks, doing and re-doing paperwork. 5 millions questions all asking the same thing I explained to everyone 2 minutes ago.AHH. So then we prayed for the vehicles, while being careful not to touch Lloyd’s pretty truck. Some of you long time readers (all 1 of you) may remember the interesting trip we had last year involving me killing a van. I want to put it up on youtube, but its to big and I haven’t bothered to dump the quality yet, but I digress. We load up and head out on our trip. 30 seconds into our trip I hear “eeeeeeeeeeeeeek”. So, rather than do the typical girl thing and turn up the stereo to cover the noise, I pulled over. Having only made it to the 108 school. For those of you who know the area thats about a block. We quickly checked the tires to notice that we were more or less dragging the Jetta down the street. Poor little sucker has over sized tires and couldn’t hack being loaded down with girl luggage. sad sad. So we txt-ed everyone to come back to the beginning (insert princess bride line here). Everyone came back to rescue us and super Karen swapped vehicles with us to go to Chilliwack! Yay Karen! So we headed out on the open road. Me being 6 months too young to drive Karen’s vehicle, I now have my truck. Seemingly useless detail, but wait for it because it will matter later.

We enjoy our typical chatter and rest stop at Chevron in Cache Creek. Then we drive on. We pass Ashcroft, and Spences Bridge, and get to a little place called Big Horn, which I learned later that my great aunt and Uncle used to own. You know where the scary bridge is just past there? Well, I had just asked the girls in my truck a deep question and they were journaling. On the other side of the bridge my gas pedal went to the floor and I thought to myself “My, that’s odd”. So I turned off the AC and turned down the music. It was then that I realized my Truck wasn’t actually running. Oh dear! So we pulled of to the side as best we could and I tried to start it again. Nope, no go. Not overheated, nothing typical. Because of my earlier vehicle mishap, I was out in front. So one by one the other vehicles pulled over to figure out what I’d done to the vehicle now. Three vehicles in 2 years, I’m never going to live this down. We get some of the guys to push the truck uphill to the rest area and then begins the waiting. We were on the side of the road for about an hour and a half before we figured everything out. Lloyds vehicle offered to stay and wait for the tow truck while the rest of us carried on down the highway. Some people from our church happened to drive by at that moment and had room for on of our youth, so we sent them with an extra to drop off in hope where my cousin could pick him up for the rest of the trip. Here’s the guys pushing the Truck.

All that and we haven’t even got to the conference yet. So we get to the first night and it’s pretty good. Lloyd’s vehicle doesn’t get there for another 3 hours. So I’m still figuring all that stuff out, but it’s good. I’ll admit, I was a little distracted so I don’t remember much of the first night. other than this picture of holly’s licorice.

The next morning we go to the mall and give the youth a project with 2 video camera’s. Morgan is working on it right now, so I’ll post those when they are finished. Then we headed to the conference. They did a weird thing where they started with workshops instead of a general session, so the beginning was hard to get into. The girls were all excited for their first session, but the speaker talked about herself and  was all “yay, me!”, so the girls weren’t exactly thrilled. Morgan and I met up with another Youth Pastor we know from our Jesus School days and even back to the first Big Youth Thing days. We had a great starbucks coffee and were very encouraged to think outside the box with youth and dream bigger, so that’s pretty exciting. Then we tried to make dinner work for everyone, but it really didn’t work all that well, so we sent Morgan and Hiedi for Pizza. There were lots of things that weren’t going that great and the youth were feeling pretty disappointed so far, so we stood in a circle and talked about what we could do to make it better and then we prayed. Then we split into girls and guys and prayed some more. Even after the pizza got there we still kept praying for each other. It was the best part of the weekend for me. I truly felt like things changed from that point on.

The opening session was good. If you ever get the chance to hear Mike Pilavachi speak do it! He was really funny and really solid in the word he spoke. So that part was great. The evening ended with the girls in my room laughing at the word shoehorn! Random Picture

It also began the next day the same, because the girls woke my up with the word Shoehorn! The morning session was good too. Mike spoke again and continued on with some great stories and spiritual truths.  Lunch was better because we learned the day before to to fight the lineups and went to get lunch elsewhere. The youth said that the workshops during the day were alot better. Morgan and I ended up meeting up with his room mate from Jesus School and getting our dreams interpreted at the Streams Ministry School Booth. So that was pretty cool. It felt like God changed all the plans we made this weekend. And they ended up far better than our ideas. That evening was a bit of a blur.

Monday Morning was just a Delirious concert. We thought there was another speaker, but it ended up just being a Delirious concert. Coco and I and a couple of the youth girls headed for the mosh pit. The night before I had caught a CD with my forehead and then lost it too some jerk of a guy, so It was better because Lizzi caught 2 CD’s. So we are sharing them. We fought our way up to the very front right in front of Martin Smith who is looking older, but I realized that the first time I saw Delirious I was 14, so that ok.  We had bought shirts before, so it was cool to be at the front with our Delirious shirts on.  They threw some flowers out into the crowd and we got them, so If you see a music video with flowers in a boot on the base amp, they made me sneeze! Lizzi got the guitar players pick too, so she gave it to Coco! We cleaned up in the pit the pit in the morning. We enjoyed some nice sushi for lunch and had an uneventful drive home. Except for the 25 cop cars that passed us at high speeds headed for Blue Lake. There are still all kinds of rumors as to why that was, but the one we head the best was about some guys playing war games and accidentally shooting campers. Crazy huh. Oh, and I’m pretty sure I saw Leah drive by in the canyon and Jack@$$ mountain. I waved like an idiot. The End. ahhhhh

Cheese Snorker

My how early 6am comes on Thursdays. I managed to get back into going to my spin class this week. I missed 2 weeks because I was sick. Tuesday was ok, but this morning was hard! I had to do some serious self talk to keep myself pedaling. I was not particularly into cycling at 6am this morning. I’m proud to say I made it through though and even pushed myself for the last 2 songs. Want to hear about my new Courtenay Challenge? huh? huh? do ya?

In 3 weeks I’m going to the ladies conference that my mom and sister and I go to in Chilliwack. I’m super excited about it. At some point during the weekend we manage to get away and go shopping. A seriously favorite pass time of Roxy and my Mom. I like to shop, but they are pro’s. So anyways. I wanted to think of a way to have a little extra cash to shop with so I made a deal with Morgan. For every pound I lose before I go he’s going to give me $10. We already ruled out the loops holes of gaining it back and losing it again. Haha. So I have 3 weeks to work my butt off, literally. It’s not that he’s paying me to get skinny, I just needed some incentive to work harder at it. He already owes me $20! I would love this summer to be a summer I’m in really good shape and running and biking and outside lots. I’ll keep you up to date on the challenge as we progress…or don’t. hehe.

I got a Jorb! I got the summer student grant at the church. Morgan thinks it’s fantastic because technically speaking I become his assistant. Riight. Cause I’m really going to make him pies because my job title is assistant. Dream on. So anyways. I get to spend the summer doing things I love! I’m really excited for all the time I’ll have to work with youth and stuff. I’m not sure exactly what I’ll be doing, but I start Monday and hopefully I’ll find out more then. Yay!

Emily officially switches daycares next Tuesday. The day care she was going to was good, but they couldn’t give me full time daycare and I needed 5 days a week to make it work with this summer job. And they were going to be away for all of August, so it just wasn’t going to work out all that well. So now she goes to a daycare in the home of a lady from our church. She has great kids and during the day there will only be about 2 other kids there. She really likes it already. I think Emily is one of those kids who like anything though. Social butterfly that she is.

Random thought. Day before yesterday she shoved cheese up her nose and I had to get her baby nose snorker to get it out. ahh took my back to the good old baby booger days. She wasn’t impressed, but I was like “Um…I’m not the one who shoved cheese up there dude!” Oh and this morning’s cuteness. Emily woke up at 6:30, which would normally bug me, but I was at spin class and so she didn’t wake me up. haha. Morgan went to get her and just brought her to bed with him so she’d go back to sleep for a while. When I got home from spin class Emily’s door was wide open. I snuck into her room, but she wasn’t in bed. My heart sunk. I opened our bedroom door and let my eyes adjust. I couldn’t see her, but I could hear her sucky snoring. A little while later when I went in to wake Morgan up they were sleeping back to back under the blankets. It was soooo cute.

Well I’d better quit goofing around and finish this paper. Last class before summer vacation, which is just the weekend until I start at the church. haha

A Beautiful Wedding

I got a B in English!!!

My daughter is the most demanding little girl in the world currently. Even just in the hour we were at Save-On tonight she was randomly telling other people what to do. Here’s a few things she casually said while pointing her teeny little finger:

To a man in the produce department
“Don’t put that in your buggy!!”

To a lady in an aisle
“That’s rude, don’t do that”

To no one in particular
“Oh my Goodness you guys are funny”

To her daddy in the checkout
“Don’t pay for that!!”

To a lady from our church.
“Humpty dumpty did a BIG fall. I had bubba’s birthday cake!”

To me in the aisle
“We don’t want beans!”

As you can see it’s getting worse. She is turning into a little bossy two-year old. AHHHH!!!

On a better note, I am obviously doing ok with my weight loss progress because last night at youth I felt I was supposed to preach on the Bride of Christ and strongly felt I needed to do just that in my wedding dress. So, I made a deal with God that if it fit, I’d wear it. I was absolutely sure that wouldn’t be a problem on my part. No feeling silly at youth. So I came home and tried on my dress. 4 1/2 years later and the stupid thing fits! AHH. No I have to preach in a dress. Most likely the first and last time I’ll preach in a dress. So there I am walking out of my office into the youth room to Pachelbel’s Canon in D, Being all cheesey with my Extra special bridesmaid Coco carrying one of my seven layers of dress. It was pretty effective I think. My main message was just to be ready because Jesus is coming soon and he wants his bride to be ready. So, I’m hoping that the whole dress deal proved its point. If nothing else I’m happy that it fit again, because I know if God told me to wear the dress last year it wouldn’t have happened. I haven’t checked for a few days, but I’m pretty sure I’m only a pound or 2 heavier than when I got married! Here’s some photos of my second wedding dress day.

Such a poser

Always wanted to play the drums in a wedding dress!

My Bridesmaid Coco!

What BOY?

Here’s a little ironic tidbit for you…one of the main ladies who worked at my last gym works out at my new gym. Hows that for an obvious answer to the best place to work out. It made me laugh when she came in today. “Even you don’t think a 30 minute circuit is good enough?” Just a funny thing to see thats all. Today was my third spin class. So far it was the hardest of my three classes. I finished well though. I took a circuit class yesterday. I thought it would be good to get myself acquainted with the rest of the gym and the equipment and everything. I got there a bit early because I woke up early. So I thought Id use the elliptical for a while. I spent almost half an hour on the ellipse and then I was just about ready to call it quits, but a lady asked my if I was in the circuit class and for some reason I said yes. Having worked out at curves for a year I figured I’d do just fine with the circuit. Then mostly older women were in my class so I thought “This isn’t the class for me, I need a tougher one I think”. Wrongo! My arms still hurt as I’m typing a day later. I thought it would be about a half an hour class. Nope. Wrong again. and hour and a half later I was stretching and cooling down. By the time I got home Morgan was starting to worry about me because I’d left more than 2 hours earlier. My abs feel like I got beat up. My legs feel like rubber, and my arms feel all shaky if I pick up anything heavier than a pencil. Well they did yesterday. It’s better today, but my abs still hate me. So after all that I think I’m going to go again next week. It feels good to work so hard. It helps that all the older ladies had no problem with the circuit. One of them could be my Grama and she held the plank for 3 minutes. I think I made it 30 seconds.

I had a frustrating night last night because I got a mark on a paper I’d worked really hard on and I wasn’t happy with the mark. I’ve become such a perfectionist. I’m ace-ing Psych, but Ive got a C+ to a B in English and it’s bugging me. I think its kinda funny that I’m bothered by that. Anyways. I think I’m going to get one of my friends who is an English teacher to look over my final paper. Just to give me tips and stuff.

To finish off todays blog I’m going to give you a few conversations we’ve had with Emily in the last few days. One of them even made me cry.

Conversation over breakfast:

Em: I prayed for Wendy.
Me: Yep, you did. Wendy is with Jesus now sweetie.
Em: I want to see her.
Me: You will one day.
Em. She’s sleeping now. She’s hugging Jesus.
Me: *Choking tears.* Yeah. She is sweetheart.

Conversation at bath time:

Em: I’m going to see the boys.
Morgan: What boys?
Em: Not THE boys. A boy.
Morgan: What BOY?
Em: At church.
Morgan:How about you see the girls?
Em: Nope, I see the boys.
Morgan: Say no dating Emily.
Em: No dating Emily!
Em: I’m making waffles!

Conversation with a telemarketer offering to lower our interest rate:

Morgan hands the phone to Em
Em: Hi Nanny!!
Telemarketjerk: *Click*

Conversation on the way to loon lake:

Bubba talking to auntie Roxy with Emily interrupting them.
Emily: That was a boat. *pointing at boat*
Roxy talking to Bubba : What?
Emily to auntie Roxy :TTTHHHAAAT WWWAAASSS AAA BBOOAAAT  AhTee Woxy!!
Everyone: *Laughing sooo hard*

Easter Adventure.

It’s becoming an annual event. One year we went to Bella Coola for the Fam Easter adventure, one year I had a baby and we ended up in Kamloops, last year we hiked at marble canyon, and this year we went to loon lake. We weren’t intending on going to loon lake. We just went south and maybe out of habit, that’s where we ended up. We stopped at the cordial cafe again this year for lunch. The waitress was no better this year, but they put in a bathroom, so I’d say that’s a vast improvement. She refused to walk around the table and kinda chucked our cutlery at us. And when she came to take our order she just stood there and looked at us. Either she was mute, or she didn’t like us. Emily and I played at the playground while we waited for the rest of the fam to finish eating. At some point while we were gone an actual destination was picked. Loon lake here we come. Oh but first we had to get some snackys so me and Dad stood around on the street helping mess with numbers for the Clinton game. Then we noticed that there was a great place to take a family picture on the main street. A little scenic spot with strategically placed stumps for us to sit on. It was perfect because it was right in from of the Liquor store. So after an impromptu family photo that turned out good enough for next years Christmas cards, we headed out again. I forgot to note that all six of us were squished in the truck. Mom and Roxy were watching a DVD in the back with Emily. Why didn’t they have that technology when I was little??

liquor store

The road in to Loon Lake was pretty good. The field was a bit mucky, but nothing like when I got stuck stuck last summer. The other side of the lake was really really snowy still. It wasn’t easy going in the truck. We made it through the gates and Morgan earned a new nick name. Poop-shoes. It is a much more fun nick name than what my dad and sister have started calling me. Tall-Not. So Poop-shoes got the gate and made it through the copious amounts of cow doo doo and we had to stop at the red gate. One of the problems with having no destination in mind when you head out is a lack of things like…keys. So Mom and I walked in to the cabin. She walked the keys back out and I lit a fire because it was colder in the cabin than out. We were a bit worried about a nest in the chimney, but I kept checking the chimney for any weirdness. At one point I tried to make sure the flue was open all the way and things got a bit smoky for a while, but otherwise things worked out grand.

Soon the troop returned from the truck. I wondered why they were walking back from the landing because I thought they’d drive in further than that. When they got to the cabin I was informed that the truck was…um…stuck. So Dad and Mom headed back to the truck with a shovel and we looked around for some food for just in case. I think secretly we all hoped it’d get stuck and our adventure would continue, but alas it was not to be. The truck wasn’t really stuck that deep.

We even found the old playpen for Emily, but that didn’t work out so well. Morgan heard a tinkling sound and went back to find Emily playing with a pin cushion she’d found on the wall. Nothing like childproof toys huh? That’s what makes ya grow up big and strong I say. Eating sewing needles.

All in all our adventure was great. Emily slept half the way home and we listened to some funny old songs. Here I am. Home again, home again, still wishing our adventures could last so much longer.
