Lake of the Trees Pt 1.

We went out to Lake of the trees on Saturday for a baptism. It was a really cool thing to be a part of. 5 of the staff decided to take the next step in their relationship with Jesus and get baptized. We also stayed for swimming and dinner! I have oodles of pics from that day, so I’m splitting it into 3 parts to make is manageable! I have some from the baptism, but they aren’t really mine to share, so I’ll post some of my girls at the beach.

Shhh Mommy they are praying!

Sunscreen nose in the sand equals sandscreen nose!

Half asleep water baby.

Grubby lil girl! Loves her sand!

Aves loves splashing!

Thats the smile I got when I said “smile”. Its the pained expression of “can I go back to making a sandcastle now that I’m finished humoring you mom!”

Blogcation is over!

Wow, new blog record. My Blogcation was almost 9 months long. I guess I just haven’t felt very blogable lately. What to say about the last 9 months…hmm…well, they went by and now I’m here. I think I’m going to have to just pick one thing and write about that because my thoughts are far to scattered to write about everything all at once. So um…I’ll write about the girls because they are the cuteness. In the middle of my blogcation, Emily turned 4 and Avery turned 1. So here’s a little word journey about where my girls are at.

Emily is a voracious reader, which makes me a voracious reader because she cant really read yet. She goes to book club every Tuesday and we come home with a pile of books to read. They should never have given us a chart to fill in because we can’t help but turn that into a challenge to read more than everyone else! Competitive…me…no!Back to Emmyloo. Her newest habit is sucking on her hair. It grosses me out, but when you’ve got a sensory seeking little one, you just have to make due. We bought her an extra tooth brush to chew on and that seems to help. The Occupational therapist who was working where I did my practicum suggested chewey foods like licorice, but giving a 4 year old red dye and sugar, isn’t my idea of a good time.  The chew brush seems to be working well. She asks for it when she needs it. She wrote a poem yesterday all by herself. It goes like this “Snuggle Wuggle, give me a hug. Wash your plate and wash your mug”. Pure Genius I know! the cadence, the metaphors, the pure lyrical brilliance, It leaves me dumbfounded! On to brilliant baby #2

Avery is walking and babbling a million miles a minute! She says “tickle Tickle”, “giggle giggle’, ‘dada’, ‘mumum’, ‘ba’ for ball and ‘plah’ for play. She says ‘eye’ for light and signs milk, more, all done, ball, light, change, hi and a few others I cant think of too. She babbles about everything and is starting to copy the different sounds we make. She currently has a cold, so she isn’t a happy camper, but she’s starting to feel better already. The snot ration in our house has been a little on the high to severely high scale lately.  Avery finally gained some weight too. 18 lbs now! She weighed 15 lbs for ever!

Well theres a bit of blog for you to chew on. I want to pace myself and not try to blog a marathon or anything while I get my blogfingers back into shape. don’t want to pull a blog muscle or anything. type you soon!

“Mommy can we talk about the news?”

To a neighbor who walked over to say hi: “HEY! you’re on my yard!”

Looking in the fridge: “What the heck is that?”

“When I get bigger, I’m going to be REALLY BIG just like you mom!”

Driving by the temporary library: “HELLO Temporary Library!”

Driving by the new library, which is still in under construction: “Thank you for building me a new library!”

“Mommy, Im playing the drums on Avery’s tummy!”

Emily:”Grama, want to watch The Emily Kasper show?”
Grama: “Sure sweetie, but I don’t know where to find it, Auntie Roxy looked it up for me.”
Emily: “Thats ok Grama you can just go to google and find it”

The Emily Kasper Show

*Insert theme music here*

My daughter is a bit creative, so I hope we’ve captured that.

Em spent the morning calling me Mrs. Kasper and insisting that we are in school. She even made me let her have a recess.  I think next fall is going to kill her because she’ll still be to young for kindergarten. I picked up some Mr. Sketch markers for her at staples yesterday. As should have been foreseen, she now has a VERY colourful nose from all the sniffing.

I’m going Kayaking in a bit, so I’m going to get stuff ready. I got a new dry bag yesterday, so I’m excited to use it today.

Belly Painting

May 6th and still prego. 35 weeks today. Gotta make it at least another week.

I let Emily paint my belly last night. We had a big family night so that she might feel some semblance of normalacy. If you can call it that in our family. We still had to accomodate for bed rest, but we made the best of it. It was the first time we’ve ever let Emily watch a regular rated G movie without previewing it first. We rented the tale of Despereaux. It was cute, but since we only say about 50% of it I can fairly rate it. We had to fast forward a great deal of it to accomodate for the “rats are scary mommy” kid. I don’t think we’ll do that again for a while.

So then I found some clothes that were relatively ok to get paint on and let Emily strip down all nakey norkers. We put out a table cloth on the floor and some finger paints. I told Emily that she could paint the baby. In hindsight, I hope she doesnt remember that it was ok to paint the baby one day. It could set a bad precedent for future sibling relationships.

It always takes Em a while to get into finger painting. She always starts out with the tip of one finger in the paint. As if she is afraid of being dirty. When she plays outside she comes back in looking like a bush child. Then slowly she gets more comfortable with the paint on her hands. Then seconds later she’d like to stick her face in it and roll around in it. Shes happier than a pig in mud. She even makes sound effects. Oh that sound effects were easily transfered into type. I think it’d make my blog so much more dynamic.

Kickin the Queen!

September 29, 2008 by CourtenayMomma

This morning Emily told me her cereal was worth “20 million dollars!!!”. So I figured she needed to learn maniacal laughter to go along with that. Muah ha ha ha! This last weekend we had our first Kickin it with the King since forever ago. It was really fun. We brought Emily along because we are really not into having her in daycare all day and babysat all night. She gets BAD if we do that. REALLY BAD. Ok not really bat, but she gets very testy. Or maybe that’s just cause she’s 2. Anyways Emily seemed to think we were going to “Kick the Queen” not “Kickin it with the King.” You couldn’t have convinced her otherwise. But she really loved it.

So I got a new video game that is taking up much of my free time(which isn’t saying alot). Batman Lego for the Wii. Its really fun. The people who make those games Rock! I have Star Wars Lego which is a 10 on the Courtenay scale of awesomeness. I’d describe how that scale works, but that’d take a whole blog, so no. I got Indiana Jones Lego which is more like a 6 or 7. It was kind of disappointing as far as Lego goes, but I think that’s mainly because they had a great trilogy to work with, but not a great group of memorable characters. Star Wars has oodles of Characters to play with. So now I have Batman Lego too. Also had a ridiculous number of characters. So I think this gets a 10 too. It wouldn’t have gotten a 10 but then I realized that the Bad guys have their own levels and that makes it awesome!! I cant play it while Emily is awake though because she copies too much stuff right now. I had it on for a bit yesterday because I was in serious need of a break, but Emily started hitting stuff and saying “I smash the flowers”. Wow observant much. So anyways this long rant is just to say that these are the trilogy’s that I think should be turned into Lego games. Just in case it gets googled by the makers of lego games and they really want my input!

10 scale games

X-men,
Lord of the Rings
Terminator
Spiderman (but only if you get to play the enemies cause otherwise it’s not 2 player)
Toy Story!!!

7 scale games

Chronicles of Narnia
Pirates of the Caribbean
Mighty ducks!(just kidding)
Princess bride.

5 scale games

Matrix,
Back to the Future
Never ending story

3 Scale games

The Bourne Identity (but only a 3 because it’d be 1 player)

Games I would never get or even play

Gilligan’s island (Boring and unbeatable!)
Harry Potter

Here’s a couple of pics of my lil darling who let me flat iron her hair before church!

Playing with Mommy’s Planter

I can pick the flowers mommy!

Oooh a tree

The Chronicles

Ahh what to write, what to write. I don’t even know where to begin. The Chronicles of my Vacation journey are long and complex, yea even odd. I have oodles of pictures too, but I’ve yet to go through them to pic which I’d like to put up here. Maybe I’ll get to that later. I don’t have alot of time to Blog today. Busy Busy, yet again. I start school again on Monday. Wow. I can barely believe it. I only have 3 courses this semester, but I’m sure it will continue to be busy. Morgan is figuring out his schooling stuff too. AND I think we are having one of the GDS students come live with us. That’s still TBA though. We started making the downstairs into a nicer place to live already. Moving things and cleaning and stuff. Its going to be a big project. I’m glad the first week of school is always easier because I’ll have plenty to do. I’ve already gotten most of my stuff from the school, so I’m ready to go! Semester 2 here I come.

I think I’ll post Vacation pics tomorrow. I’m too AR to not start getting things ready for our student and for school. In the meantime, here’s a piccy of my very willful, defiant two year old who insists that she wont get time outs just before she gets them, and argues about everything. But, she’s 2. That’s life, she also melts my heart with her big “squeeze” hugs and kisses. Her rapier sharp wit, and crazy giggles make me have the hardest time keeping her inline. It is beyond hard to not just laugh at her every time she is mouthy. I suppose it’s a good thing that I know too many kids who did get away with that stuff, and are now 7 or 8 year old obnoxious chillders.

Sleeping at Daycare. Too cute!!

Em and her boys, Nathan and Luca!
