She’s already closer to 3 than 2. It’s weird. But weirder still are the conversations Emily has with everyone around. So here’s a sample of her latest conversations.
To my mom: “Gramma, I just really don’t care.”
Currently half her sentences start with probably or actually and usually in a patronizing tone too.
I told her to chill out in the store because she was practically hyperventilating, so she turns around an aisle later and tells some little girl to “Chill out”.
She’s been obsessive about getting married lately so here’s one of our breakfast time conversations
Em: “Im going to marry you Mommy”
Me: “You cant marry me, I’m a girl. Girls marry boys”
Em: “Ok then I’ll marry Daddy”
Me: “You can’t marry daddy because daddy is already married to me. You should marry some one your own age”
Em: “Ok, I’ll marry Diego”.
Me: “You’re right he is your age, but you can’t marry a cartoon character.”
Em: “Why Mommy”?
Me: “Because he’s in 2D”
Em: “Oh ok”
Me: “You should marry someone in your Sunday school class. It’s important to marry a Christian Boy”.
Em: “Alright then, I’ll Marry Christian(the name of a boy in her Sunday school…she takes things literally)”.
Me: “Ok, but you’ll have to wait until you are a bit older”
Em: “Why?”
Me: “Well…um…I don’t approve of you dating right now”
Em: “Oh ok”
It was a strange conversation which I believe was followed up by telling Christian she loved him on Sunday at Jr. Glory House.
This one was while she was praying with Morgan before bed.
“Dear Jesus, I pray for Grampa and Nanny, Bubba and Gramma, Auntie Roxy, Mommy and Daddy…and polka dots…and in case of an emergency dial 911…and AMEN!”
That one has been making us laugh and laugh. I’m not even sure where she heard it from.
This one was last night. We were driving home from Youth and Emily was talking to Dalton in the backseat.
Em: “I like your hat”.
Dalton: “I like your coat”.
Em: “I like…you”.
Dalton: “Are we in the car?”
Em: “No. this is the truck. Our car is a Jetta!(*insert very patronizing tone here*)”
Never a dull moment with the stunning conversational antics of Emily around. I wonder if TumTum will be a quiet baby or if we’ll have another mouthy one…hmm.

I’m going to be laughing at the “in case of emergency…” addendum quite a lot now, too.
OH MY GOODNESS. I laughed OUT LOUD. A LOT. I will probably continue to. HOWEVER, I do think that it’s good that you have taught Emily to pray for polka dots. Excellent spiritual training. Well done. Here’s a thought…..if God ever had to call 911 (Emily seems to think it’s wise to make sure He knows how to), how does the ambulance get to Heaven to get to Him? I mean really…..they should work on stuff like that.
Just thought I’d check in on you guys – hope you’re well! And feeling well, Courtenay! Bless you (all three and a half!)!
Lots of love,
Bakes
Oh my that Emily is funny. I must admit I’m jealous she’s so talkative. It’s so cute. I hope you keep writing it all down.
Love you!
